After 5 years of free, community-rooted programming, we’re making a shift. Some of our offerings are moving to a sliding scale model to help us build something more sustainable, stable, and resilient for the long term.

Our scale starts at $0—everyone is still welcome, always. 💛 If you’re able to contribute, you’re helping ensure q***r community spaces continue to exist and grow here.

This is an invitation to invest in the future of q***r community on the coast.

🌈 Q***r & Trans Healthcare Research in BC- Looking for Rural & Island Voices 🌈

A lot of healthcare research about 2S/LGBTQIA+ communities in BC ends up centered around Victoria and Vancouver, but we know q***r and trans folks living in rural, remote, and Island communities deserve to have their experiences reflected too.

Acommunity-informed research project through UVic is currently looking for participants to help shape conversations around safer, more affirming healthcare in BC:

🩺 The Safe & Affirming Care Project
Seeking:
• 2S/LGBTQIA+ community members accessing hospital-based care within Island Health
• Direct care nurses working in hospital settings on Vancouver Island/Gulf Islands

This project explores what safe, affirming, and respectful healthcare actually looks like in practice, and where gaps still exist.

✨ Participation helps strengthen research that can directly inform healthcare practices, education, and policy for q***r and trans communities across BC.

Join us for our Make n’ Mend closing (for the season) party! 🌀⭐️

After nearly 2 years of dynamic, connective, monthly programming, we’ve decided to pause Make n’ Mend for the summer to reflect, regroup, and plan for the future.

This program has seen everything - cedar weaving, bring-your-own-craft nights, textile workshops, zine making, and more. We’ve uplifted local artists, invested in budding entrepreneurs, kept clothing and household items circulating in our local community through swap nights, and most importantly, connected hundreds of q***r folks across dozens of events.

We’re excited for the opportunity to pause, celebrate everything Make n’ Mends have accomplished, and get back to serving our community with responsive programming.

Let us know what you liked most about Make n’ Mend, and what we should definitely bring back in future programs, in the comments below! ⬇️💬
