Alberta’s Hazard Assistance and Resilience Program (HARP) provides financial support for uninsurable property damage caused by natural disasters including overland flooding.

Beaver Emergency Services Commission (BESC), as the local authority, must apply for assistance on and get approval before financial assistance is available for individuals and small businesses.

BESC has filed its application and is waiting for approval. At this point we do not know when the province will complete its review.

If your home or business was damaged by the flooding between June 20 and July 5, 2026, you may be eligible for financial assistance from the province once BESC’s application is approved.

In the meantime, gather documents that support your loss, including receipts, invoices, photographs, contractor estimates, and records of repairs or replacement costs.

Note, the HARP does not cover costs, damage or losses that could have been covered by insurance. Contact your insurance company to confirm what your policy covers. If your losses are not insurable you will need your insurance company to provide you with a letter confirming that.

More information will be available once BESCs application is approved.
BESC can be contacted at 780-336-3041 or by email at [email protected]
