Today, we remember.
We honour the children who never came home.
We honour the Survivors who carry the weight of what happened.
We honour the families, communities, cultures, languages, and traditions that endured, and continue to endure.
At Northern Reach Network, we recognize that the communities we support are shaped by deep histories, strong relationships, and enduring connections to the land.
Our work brings us alongside Northern families, community members, and animals who need care, support, and compassion. We are grateful for the trust placed in us and mindful that every community has its own strengths, experiences, priorities, and ways of caring for one another.
The animals in our care are part of those communities. They are companions, working animals, family members, and sources of comfort and connection. Supporting their well-being also means supporting the people and communities who love them, depend on them, and care for them every day.
We believe this work must be approached with respect, humility, and understanding. Reconciliation requires more than acknowledgement. It requires listening to Indigenous voices, learning the history we were not always taught, building respectful relationships, and being willing to do better.
Today is not about posting an orange heart and moving on tomorrow.
It is about remembering that Truth comes first.
It is about honouring the strength and resilience of Indigenous peoples.
It is about recognizing the importance of community, culture, family, land, and connection.
And it is about carrying that learning into the way we support people, care for animals, and show up in the communities we serve.

🧡 Today, we listen.
🧡 Today, we honour.
🧡 And tomorrow, we continue the work.
Truth and Reconciliation is not a one-day commitment.
It is a responsibility we carry forward, in our relationships with communities, in the care we provide to animals, and in the way we respect the people, lands, histories, and connections that make each community unique.
Every Child Matters.
