Kiwanis club of Sydney president Wayne Banfield (right) is shown delivering a check to Kyle MacPhee and Robin Young, chairs for the Island Skateboard Association. The Kiwanis club was able to support the Association with the cheque for $2500.

A few members of the Sydney Kiwanis club were in attendance this morning at the dedication of the Ann Terry MacLellan Gazebo. In attendance were children from Grade 5 at nearby Brooklyn elementary school who treated us to a lovely version of the song We are an Island. And other older students were there to represent various groups like the Key Club and other environmental organizations. Shown is David Gabriel with the plaque that will be applied to the side of the Gazebo. It was a beautiful morning for the dedication.

Kiwanis Club of Sydney is proud to support Brookland Elementary School “Comfort Closet” closet project. We shopped for items they requested to help stock up and we are hoping this helps.

We had a wonderful time bowling for a Big Brother Big Sisters on Friday evening. A good crowd turned out and everyone was decked out in their best cowboy/cowgirl outfit. Lynda Lou MacIntyre got arrested for not wearing a cowboy hat and had to spend some time in jail. Great fun was had by all. Debbie, who swore she had never bowled before, ended up with one of the highest scores. Good times for a good cause!

What a finale! We enjoyed the final concert of the Sydney Kiwanis Festival of Music, Speech and Drama last night with the speech and drama finalists. Lots of wonderful presentations and big smiles as the awards and prices were presented. Thank you to all the participants, you did a wonderful job. See you all next year
