🐾 What a fantastic day supporting a great cause! 🦮❤️

Lion Mark and his dog Jasper joined the Coquitlam Lions Dog Walk to help raise funds for Dog Guides through the Lions Foundation of Canada. Starting at 11:00 AM and finishing around 12:30 PM, participants enjoyed a beautiful day filled with community spirit and plenty of wagging tails!

The hosted their 5th Annual Walk for Dog Guides, and the event was packed with fun activities including dog snack samples, professional pet photos, free nail trims, a doggie talent contest, silent auction, face painting, pup cups, live music, and a hot dog barbecue courtesy of the Maple Ridge Lions.

A special thank you to Bosley's Pet Value for providing swag for participants and helping make the event even more memorable.

With at least 34 dogs of all sizes and their families in attendance, it was clear that this event continues to grow and make a meaningful impact in support of Dog Guide programs across Canada.

Thank you to everyone who participated, volunteered, donated, and helped make this year's walk such a success! 🐕🐾

✨ Continue the Magic of the International Lions Christmas Ship! ✨

For over 70 years, the Pacific Northwest has been home to a heartwarming holiday tradition—the International Lions Christmas Ship! 🎅⛵️ Every December, Lions Club volunteers, including Lions from Surrey Central, Santa, Mrs. Claus, and cheerful elves, critters and pirates set sail to remote islands, bringing festive joy, gifts, and candy to children who might otherwise miss out on the holiday spirit.

Why It Matters: Many families in isolated island communities don’t have easy access to mainland celebrations. The Christmas Ship brings the magic of the season right to their docks, creating memories that last a lifetime.

A Legacy of Cross-Border Kindness: Once spanning both the U.S. San Juan Islands and Canada’s Gulf Islands, this beloved voyage has faced challenges in recent years—rising vessel costs and border logistics have limited its reach. But the mission remains the same: spreading holiday cheer where it’s needed most.

How You Can Help: This tradition relies entirely on volunteers and donations. Whether you can give time, funds, or holiday gifts, every bit of support keeps the spirit of the Christmas Ship alive!

To support the project, we are holding a Gala Fundraiser this June. Join us 5:30 pm Thursday June 25th, at the BEAUTIFUL & SCENIC BERTELSEN WINERY, 20598 Starbird Rd, Mount Vernon, WA

What a great donation by the Surrey Fire Fighters Association IAFF Local 1271y

Major funding announcement today at the Surrey Food Bank’s Fill the Bay event.

The Surrey Fire Fighters’ Charitable Society was proud to present a $200,000 contribution to purchase a new 5-ton refrigerated truck supporting Surrey Food Bank operations and helping strengthen food distribution efforts throughout our community.

The story of the SFFCS is very similar to that of the Surrey Food Bank — a group of like-minded people coming together with one goal: supporting the community we work and live in.

Food security continues to be a major priority for the SFFCS. Whether it’s through our Nutritional Snack Program supporting over 7,500 students across Surrey schools, or through partnerships like this with the Surrey Food Bank, we remain committed to ensuring individuals and families in Surrey have access to the support they need.

We are incredibly proud to stand alongside the Surrey Food Bank and all of the volunteers, donors, and community partners helping make a difference every single day.

The new truck will now head off for co-branding and will soon be out on the road supporting food distribution efforts across Surrey.
