Calling all Summerside Area Artists!

In preparation for Summerside Arts Fest being hosted across the community from June 8 - July 4, 2026, we invite you to submit an application related to the festival's Art Alley activity.

Similar to last year, Art Alley is taking place under the big tent on lower Spring Street. This year's dates are Friday, July 3 and Saturday, July 4.

The focus of the Art Alley is artists at work. Artists must be able to demonstrate their work and engage with the public to explain their medium and practice. The event is in partnership with Classic Car Nights and the Summerside Farmer's Market.

This is a paid opportunity. Spots are limited and will be curated to ensure a mix of artists for each shift. You will be contacted by Culture Summerside staff with further information after submitting your application.

Summerside Arts Fest 2026 Application: https://forms.gle/iSfxbCNoE5uv9zbc8 (fill out and submit online).

Or drop by Lefurgey Cultural Centre at 205 Prince Street from Monday - Friday for a paper copy.

Deadline for submissions: Friday, June 5, 2026.

We encourage artists of all ages, backgrounds and mediums to apply. Haven't engaged with us before? Please apply - we love to connect with new folks.

Look forward to receiving your applications.

Thankful for Wanda Wyatt and the impact she has made on our community.

Today marks the birthdate of one of Summerside's most prominent citizens.

Wanda Lefurgey Wyatt was born on May 9, 1895, to her parents, Cecelia Lefurgey and James Edward Wyatt in the cherished family home at 85 Spring Street. The family was involved in the commercial, professional, political and social life of the community and province.

Seen in the photo is Wanda Wyatt on her 96th birthday in her home on Spring Street, now known as the Wyatt House Museum (Image is from the Wanda Wyatt Archival Collection).

Wanda Wyatt is remembered today for her keen business ability, but also for her generosity and commitment to culture and heritage in Summerside. She donated her home and the surrounding properties to the City of Summerside so they could be preserved and shared with the public, and they are now known as the Wyatt Heritage Properties.

Wanda established the Wyatt Foundation to manage her varied philanthropic interests. Over the years many cultural endeavors, in Summerside and across the province, received support from the Wyatt Foundation. Among them, the Lefurgey Cultural Centre, Harbourfront Theatre, The College of Piping and Celtic Performing Arts of Canada, and many other cultural initiatives in the community.

Thanks to the foresight and generosity of Wanda Wyatt, the community of Summerside has benefited greatly in an economic, social and cultural capacity.

In January of 1998, at the remarkable age of 102 years, Wanda passed away in her lifelong home at 85 Spring Street. Her dream of the house becoming a museum was fulfilled. Make sure to stop by for a visit this summer at the Wyatt House Museum, where you can explore the beautiful property that Wanda called home for the entirety of her life.
