🌟 Performer Spotlight: Lena Daniels🌟

“Lac St Anne Métis Community Association is an outstanding foundation that brings together families from all over Turtle Island to the beautiful land of Treaty 6 Territory. We are able to get together to celebrate and embrace the land with different traditions and cultures. As a child I was a part of the 60’s scoop, in and out of the foster care system losing my language and my roots. As I got older and had children and a grandchild of my own I knew in my heart that I needed to gain the knowledge of my ancestors so that I could pass them on and share them with my children. It is such an honour to be a part of this wonderful event where we can enjoy the incredible genres of multi-talented Indigenous and Métis singers. People can visit the artisan and local vendors with access to all of their phenomenal beadwork and artistic creations. We can enjoy quality time with family while learning the fundamentals of properly preparing a horse for a guided ride, etc. I have always wanted to ride a horse especially since having witnessed several Indian relay races which are so exciting to watch! Here we can also explore our cultural exhibits and learn of the history of the land and of our people before us. It is an extremely opportune time as an artist to have the opportunity to engage with other artists supporting, learning and striving to become better versions of ourselves.” - Lena Daniels
