On October 15, we were happy to take part in a Liaison Tour in Steinbach alongside CDEM, EIS, IRCC, RRC Polytech, the Government of Manitoba, local businesses, and community partners.

The tour was a great opportunity to explore what Steinbach and the Eastman Region have to offer French-speaking and bilingual newcomers, including employment opportunities, community connections, and settlement support.

🤝 Throughout the day, we visited local businesses, met with partners, and shared ideas about how we can better support newcomers in our communities.

It was wonderful to see the interest in Francophone and bilingual immigration and the potential for future collaboration.

A big thank you to everyone who organized and participated in the tour! Your time and commitment to welcoming newcomers are truly appreciated.

🍁🧡 Happy Thanksgiving, Canada! 🇨🇦

Thanksgiving is a wonderful time to slow down, spend time with family and friends, and appreciate the many blessings in our lives.

In Canada, Thanksgiving is celebrated on the second Monday of October, which falls on October 12 this year. Traditionally connected to the harvest season, it’s a time to be thankful for the food on our tables, the people who care about us, and the kindness we share. For many of us, it’s also a special time to thank God for all the blessings we have received. 🌾🍂

Here in the Eastman Region of Manitoba, we are grateful for the people who make our communities special — from longtime residents to newcomers who now call this region home. Every act of kindness, friendship, and support helps make Eastman a welcoming place for everyone. ❤️

Whether you're celebrating Thanksgiving with family, gathering with friends, or experiencing this Canadian tradition for the first time, we hope your day is filled with warmth, happiness, and gratitude.

🌎🍁 October is Latin American Heritage Month!

Throughout October, we recognize and celebrate the rich history, diverse cultures, traditions, and contributions of Latin American communities across Canada. 🇨🇦

Latin America is home to many unique cultures, languages, and traditions. From music, art, and food to family traditions, community values, and inspiring stories, Latin American heritage adds so much to Canada's multicultural identity.

Here in the Eastman Region of Manitoba, we are pleased to welcome individuals and families from Latin American countries who bring their knowledge, skills, experiences, and cultural traditions to our communities. Whether through their work, local businesses, schools, or everyday connections with neighbours, they contribute to making our region a vibrant and welcoming place to live. ❤️

This month is a wonderful opportunity to learn more about Latin American heritage, appreciate different perspectives, and recognize the important contributions of our Latin American neighbours.

🧡 Truth and Reconciliation / Orange Shirt Day 🧡
On September 28th, we came together as a community to listen, learn, reflect, and connect.
It was an evening of learning about Indigenous history, residential schools, Orange Shirt Day, and the importance of Truth and Reconciliation.
For newcomers to Canada, that evening was an opportunity to learn more about Indigenous Peoples, their history and experiences, and to deepen their understanding of Truth and Reconciliation.
Learning and sharing together helps build greater understanding and respect within our community.
Thank you to our speakers, community guests, newcomers, and everyone who joined us and took part in this important evening. 🧡

This month, we recognize and celebrate the history, cultures, achievements, and contributions of Muslim communities across Canada. 🇨🇦

Canadian Islamic History Month is an opportunity to learn more about the stories and experiences of Muslim Canadians and to recognize the important role they play in shaping our communities.

It also reminds us of the value of learning from one another, celebrating our diversity, and creating welcoming communities where everyone feels respected, included, and valued.

Here in Manitoba and across Canada, our different cultures, traditions, and experiences make our communities stronger.

Throughout October, let’s take the opportunity to learn, connect, celebrate, and continue building stronger communities together. 💚🤝

🧡 September 30 — Orange Shirt Day & National Day for Truth and Reconciliation

On September 30, ERIP joins people across Canada in honouring Survivors, their families and communities, and remembering the children who never returned home from residential schools.

This day reminds us that reconciliation begins with learning.

Understanding Indigenous history, cultures, and experiences helps all of us—including newcomers to Canada—better understand the place we call home.

We encourage everyone to take time today to listen to Indigenous voices, learn something new, and carry that learning forward in our communities.

On September 28, ERIP, EIS end partners invite everyone to come together for an evening focused on connection, learning, and building understanding together.

Throughout the evening, you will have the opportunity to:

🧡 Learn about the Indigenous history of Steinbach and the surrounding area with Mino Odewin
🧡 Hear Elise Plessis, a Survivor, share her story and speak about the Sixties Scoop and its impacts today
🧡 Learn about traditional Indigenous foods with Dee’s Deli
🧡 Connect with others in our community while sharing food, conversation, and learning

🌍 Celebrating Welcoming Week!

Today, September 15, we had a wonderful opportunity to meet with newcomers and introduce them to Steinbach and the Eastman Region, including local services, resources, and opportunities to connect.

A big thank you to Itrat from Welcome Place, and Olesja, Sara, and Barb from Eastman Immigrant Services for helping make this gathering possible! 💙

Welcoming Week is all about bringing people together and creating a community where everyone feels welcome and connected.

🤝 Connecting. Sharing. Moving forward together.

On September 9, the ERIP Partnership Council brought local partners together to share updates, discuss newcomer needs, employment opportunities, and community resources across the Eastman region. 🌍

These conversations help us identify gaps, strengthen coordination between organizations, and find practical ways to better support newcomers in our communities.

Le 9 septembre, le Conseil de partenariat de l’ERIP a réuni des partenaires locaux afin de partager des nouvelles, de discuter des besoins des nouveaux arrivants, des possibilités d’emploi et des ressources communautaires dans la région d’Eastman. 🌍

Ces échanges nous permettent de mieux cerner les besoins, de renforcer la coordination entre les organismes et de trouver des moyens concrets de mieux soutenir les nouveaux arrivants dans nos communautés.
