By all accounts the 2nd Annual Ride for Recovery NL was a rumbling success! Perfect riding weather. Lots of fun and fellowship outside the Recovery Centre, on the road, up in Ferryland, and back at the Triangle Social Centre afterwards. We had 28 bikes this year, and four or five passengers as well. So it was a great crew. No one wiped out! A few little snags but all in all it was a blast. Food and prizes and real talk and improv comedy to cap off the evening.

Shout out to Honda One, Freshwater Suzuki, Aesthetics in the Square, the Paint Shop and Harbour Tiles for donating some fabulous prizes and showing us such awesome support. To our neighbour Rick for offering up his driveway! To Dana Puddicombe and all the Good Yarns comedy troupe. Special thanks to Leanne Brinston at the Recovery Centre for giving us all a place to start, to the Tetley Tea Room in Ferryland for the warm welcome. Thanks to the RNC for watching our backs when we rolled up back in St. John’s. Leanne, Bob H, and Roberto - thank you for your kind and generous words.

And thanks once again to all the MANY volunteers back at the Triangle Social Centre (especially Lorraine and Boyd!) for going above and beyond to help us make our evening a success. And of course to everyone who showed up to ride for such a worthy cause - Thank you all so very much. Til next year - rubber side down! ###

Shaping up to be a decent day on the road for the 2nd Annual Ride for Recovery NL!

Registration opens at 10:00am at 80 Charter Avenue in St. John’s.

Make sure you gas up and do a little safety check on your bike - tire pressure, signal lights working, all that fun stuff.

Rain gear if you have room for it.
Like the fella says - Better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it…

Less than a week away from the 2nd annual Ride for Recovery NL!

On Saturday, August 8th, we’ll be leaving the parking lot of the Recovery Centre at 80 Charter Avenue in St. John’s at 11:00am.
Registration opens at 10:00am.
(Registration is 20.00)

Same route as last year - we’ll try our best to stay together all the way up to the Ferryland Downs, hang out there for a cup of tea at the Tetley Tea House, then motor on back to the Triangle Social Centre at 51 Liverpool Avenue in St. John’s for a fun-filled afternoon of food and fellowship and comedy and prizes.
We’re PLANNING to roll up at the triangle by about 3-3:30, to kick things off by 4pm at the latest.

The ride is happening rain or shine, but we’re certainly hoping for sunny skies.

If you remember the Black Rose Tattoo Parlour on the west end of Water Street in St. John’s, then maybe this post is for you.

We all know that tattoos and recovery (and motorcycles) often go hand in hand.

And I don’t know about you, but when I was OUT THERE I certainly picked up one or two tattoos that I wouldn’t mind not having to look at ever again. The posted pic is my absolute least favourite one. Long boring story, trust me, but I would most definitely like to get it fu**in gone.

So, our friends at Aesthetics in the Square (8 Rowan St. Suite 300, St. John’s) have made a very generous donation to the Ride for Recovery NL - complimentary tattoo removal consultation + 3 laser tattoo removal sessions (max 4”x4” tattoo size). That’s a service valued at 1000.00. We’ll be raffling it off on August the 8th, after the ride.

I’ve already had some ink removed over the years. Yes it hurts, but not for long. It’s kind like a vicious little snap of an elastic band - x 10.
It’s a process, for sure.

We’ll have several fabulous door prizes that night as well. Stayed tuned for more details.

The good folks at Honda One on Topsail Rd were kind enough to donate a fabulous door prize to the upcoming g Ride for Recovery NL, so it’s the least we can do to plug their upcoming ATV and Motorcycle Show happening on July 4th. Live music, test rides, food trucks - gonna be a fabulous day. Bring your ride and show it off. Doesn’t have to be a Honda, doesn’t have to be some sort of rare vintage model - just whatever you’ve got. Giver.

The second annual Ride for Recovery will take place on August 8th, 2026! The route will remain pretty much the same - from the Recovery Centre in Pleasantville to The Ferryland Downs and back to the Triangle Social Centre in St. John's for a fabulous evening of music and food and fellowship. We're very excited, and so thankful to everyone who so wholeheartedly supported last year's ride.

Please take note of our newly upgraded logo, designed and executed by a real live human being - St. John's artist Duncan Major. For various ethical reasons, the R4R Board of Directors collectively decided that we want our logo to be free from the trappings of Ai. And yet Duncan still refused to charge us a fee, graciously donating his time and energy and talent to this project. So give him a shout out - and if you are a band or independent artist or a novelist or business owner or an organization like us - consider going in for the human touch like we did. It's so worth it. ### jth
