This week, we celebrate National Volunteer Week (April 19–25)!

A huge THANK YOU to all the amazing volunteers who make 1st St. John’s West Scout Group possible. Your time, energy, and dedication create meaningful experiences and lasting memories for our youth.

Special thanks to our Beaver Section Scouters and Adult Helpers for inspiring our youngest members, and to our Group Committee for keeping everything running smoothly behind the scenes.

And to our families - thank you for your ongoing support and encouragement.

We are truly grateful for the strong community that helps our young people grow, learn, and thrive.

Our Beaver Colony had a great day at camp yesterday. A short hike into camp, roasting hot dogs over the fire for lunch, and shelter building were on the agenda. Plus lots of laughs and memories 🙂

Today we celebrate Founders’ Day, marking the shared birthdays of Lord Robert Baden-Powell, Chief Scout of the World, and Lady Olave Baden-Powell, Chief Guide of the World.

We honour the vision that began Scouting and the values of service, adventure, and leadership that continue to guide our youth today.

Happy Founders’ Day to all in our Scouting family.

As we reflect on our past, we also look ahead with a commitment to growing, learning, and ensuring Scouting continues to be a welcoming place where every young person can thrive.

This week, our Beavers and Scouters will receive their new Scout Group crest for their uniforms.

Our new design (bottom) is a nod to our original Group crest (top), which features a Scout Stetson hat, the fleur-de-lis, and the Scout Motto: Be Prepared.

As we welcome the New Year, 1st St. John’s West Scout Group would like to wish everyone a happy and healthy year ahead.

2025 was an exciting year for our group, especially with the launch of our new Beaver Colony. From campfires and outdoor adventures to laughter, learning, and new friendships, it has been incredible to watch our youngest members grow and discover Scouting together.

We are grateful to our youth, families, and volunteers who made this year so memorable. We look forward to even more adventures in 2026 as we continue to build strong programs and bring Scouting to more youth in Cowan Heights/St. John's West.

Here’s to another year of fun, learning, and adventure.
