# # Celebrating Arts, Culture & French Learning! 🎶🎨🇫🇷

A huge **MERCI** to **ImmersART** for bringing music, arts and culture into French Immersion classrooms across Newfoundland and Labrador! 💚

Through this incredible program, students in **Grades 6–12** had the opportunity to experience the talent and creativity of artists from right here at home — including **Port de Poutine, Ocean Bound, Clémence Dumas, Adrien House**, and Maritime favourite **Hughie Batherson**. 🎵🎭

ImmersART is all about connecting **community partners, artists and schools** to bring students the very best of local arts and culture — with a distinctly Newfoundland and Labrador and Atlantic Canadian flavour!

During the **2025–2026 school year**, ImmersART reached **24 schools across Newfoundland and Labrador**, exposing **more than 2,400 French Immersion students** to inspiring experiences that help keep them **engaged, motivated and inspired through workshops and concerts on their French-language learning journey.** 🌟

**Canadian Parents for French – Newfoundland and Labrador is incredibly proud to be a partner in ImmersART** and to help create meaningful opportunities for students to discover that French is more than a language — it is a doorway to **music, culture, creativity, community and connection.** ❤️

Merci à tous the artists, schools, teachers, community partners and, of course, the students who made this year so memorable!

**Vive la musique! Vive les arts! Vive le français!** 🇫🇷🎶✨

📚✨ The 2026 Heather Huxter Writing Contest book is HOT OFF THE PRESS! 🇨🇦🇫🇷

We’re thrilled to celebrate the release of the 2026 Heather Huxter Writing Contest collection, just in time for the 2026–2027 school year!

Driven by Canadian Parents for French Newfoundland and Labrador, this special contest honors the memory of Heather Huxter, a young French Immersion student from CC Loughlin school in Cornerbrook.

The contest celebrates the creativity and French-language skills of students in Grades 4–6. Winning stories are selected for their creativity, strong grammar, and proper use of French, giving young writers an opportunity to see their work published and shared with French Immersion students across Newfoundland and Labrador.

Thanks to funding from the Department of Education, copies of the 2026 edition will be distributed to Grade 4–6 French Immersion classrooms throughout Newfoundland and Labrador. 🍎📖

Congratulations to our talented talented young authors! Your imagination, hard work and love of French are helping keep Heather’s memory alive through the joy of storytelling. 💙

Here’s to a wonderful new school year filled with French, creativity and inspiring stories! 🇫🇷📚
