The City has released a What We Heard report based on feedback from residents aged 17–30, gathered between November 2025 and March 2026. The results will help guide a new young adult engagement strategy. 💬

Highlights include:
🗣️Young people want meaningful opportunities to share their input and to see how it shapes decisions.
🧩 There’s no one-size-fits-all approach. Different groups of youth need different ways to engage.
🏙️ Topics like housing, transportation, and community spaces matter most.
📱 Flexible, informal options like pop-ups and online engagement are preferred.

A message from Newfoundland and Labrador Youth Parliament. Please share with youth in your community

Newfoundland and Labrador Youth Parliament (NLYP) are getting ready to host our 60th session, and we couldn’t be more excited!

We are a multi-partisan political youth organization with an aim to educate youth aged 15-24 politically on municipal, provincial, and federal levels. We spend five days in the House of Assembly debating bills on various topics important to the youth of today, with past topics including healthcare, justice and public safety, and transportation. Youth are given the opportunity to meet various political figures, improve upon public speaking, and truly get a first hand look at provincial politics.

Along with the political education, we also get to enjoy the beautiful city of St. John’s! Some activities we have partaken in previously are tours of facilities such as CBC, government house, and colonial building; laser tag, bowling, an evening at the Avalon Mall and so much more!

NLYP’s 60th session will be taking place in the capital city of St. John’s from October 12th-16th, 2026. Session fees for delegates requiring hotel accommodations will be $135.00, whereas session fees for delegates not requiring hotel accommodations will be $60.00.

If you know a young person within your municipality politically inclined and interested in meeting other bright, likeminded young people within this province, please reach out to us at [email protected], or find us on social media at Newfoundland and Labrador Youth Parliament!
