No To LNG - Squamish But this is only part of issue. The real elephant in the room is climate change. It won't be all bad news. And we want postings about those alternatives.

The intent of "No to LNG -Squamish" is to allow people to raise and debate their concerns about the proposed Woodfibre LNG plant in Squamish and the wider political issues that concern Canadians. The intent of "No to LNG -Squamish" is to allow people to raise and debate their concerns, as well as post news articles explaining the environmental impact of a proposed Woodfibre LNG plant in Squamish. The LNG plant can't be discussed without seeing it in the context of our addiction to oil/gas/coal, and its destructive impact on the environment. LNG, and our broader addiction to fossil fuels, is certainly as much a political issue as it is scientific and economic. So we will also critically discuss the political actions of our leaders - especially their usual failure to take climate change seriously. The fantastic news is that there are amazing technological innovations surrounding alternative sustainable energy alternatives. I'd appreciate it if you can pass the site along. Even though this one is about Squamish, it's really about all of us.

Do you think it’s great when a cigarette company finances a cancer hospital in some town?

Then do you think it’s somehow praiseworthy that dirty fracking flaring methane leaking WFLNG contributed towards a new CT scanner in Squamish? Some WFLNG toadies think so.

Think about it. Someone experiencing respiratory problems potentially associated with emissions from Woodfibre LNG could conceivably end up receiving a CT scan on equipment the company helped fund.

Not to mention its obligations concerning municipal taxation, environmental protection and community health.

Fact is, nobody would want to see this industry in town unless they get some kind of payback for it. At the expense of the health of our community.
