Skate ASSIST for ages 3-9yrs hosted at the Community Rink! This program is designed to assist new/beginner skaters to help them gain confidence on the ice.

Please note: The Rink will be closed during session times. Limited spacing *if your child(ren) have been dismissed from either daycare or school during session dates due to covid protocols, they will not be permitted to participate during that time.

REGISTRATION OPENS: MONDAY FEBRUARY 7th

Aanii Nawash!
We are looking for anyone interested in helping teach beginner skating skills to tots - grade school ages. Helpers will need to be physically able to support the tots/preschoolers and open to on-ice fun ex: sleigh races and games
Program duration: Mid- February to Mid March. Helper incentive provided. Helpers do not need to be certified, we will have certified instructors on site but must be 16+

Anyone looking to take a Hockey Coaching Course, we are in the process of confirming a Coach 2 course with Hockey Canada *virtual delivery. Note: you do not need the Coach 1 to complete the Coach 2. Look out for upcoming confirmation dates

Hello everyone,

On behalf of the rink committee we apologize for not having the rink up and running at this point. Only a couple of volunteers and I stress volunteers know how to operate the chiller, clear and flood the rink. This makes it difficult when mandatory quarantines are in place and others are away from the community. In the past, we have tried to host training programs and volunteer meetings but unfortunately there was no active participation.

The chiller unit is down at the moment and is in the process of getting serviced. Up until the start of this week the weather was not in our favour. Now that the cold weather is here we are trying to put something into place.

Again lots of pieces need to be put together in order for the rink to be operational and this includes the health and safety of our community. With Covid unfortunately being present in the community it becomes paramount to ensure that everyone’s health is at the forefront.

Our volunteers want the rink up and running just as much as the youth that are using it, maybe even more. All the volunteers involved take pride in the ice rink and want nothing more but to see the community on it.

Please be patient as we work through these obstacles and try to get ice on the rink.

Nawash members, we are hosting another Hockey Equipment Give-Away at the NCW tomorrow Friday November 5 from 6-8pm! BY APPOINTMENT ONLY, contact the NCW to book your appointment.

If you are grabbing multiple items and/or unsure of sizing PLEASE bring the person needing equipment to ensure proper and safe sizing.

Available Equipment:
New and Used: sticks, pants, helmets, gloves, neck guards, chest protectors, skates, shin guards
No: hockey bags, mouth guards and very few elbow pads available
*Various sizing from toddler to adult

The ‘21/22 season is quickly approaching and we are looking for dedicated volunteers to assist with Ice Surface Maintenance, Snow Removal and Community Events!!

Future training dates will be available for the following actions:
- how to operate the Chiller
- how to properly maintain the ice surface
- how to operate the Zamboni
- how to operate the tractor and blower
