COMMUNITY NOTICE FOR WORK PERMIT HOLDERS IN THE SHUSWAP

Are you hoping to become a Permanent Resident through the Rural Community Immigration Pilot (RCIP) or another Canadian immigration program?

Know your rights:

- You should never have to pay for a job offer or for job placement.

- If you are eligible for overtime pay, your employer must pay you for those hours.

- Your immigration goals should never be used to pressure you into accepting unfair or unsafe working conditions.

- You should not be fired, threatened or punished for asserting your rights as a worker under BC employment and workplace safety laws.

If something doesn't seem right, or if you have questions about your rights at work, help is available.

Outreach staff at Shuswap Immigrant Services Society (SISS) can provide free confidential information, support, and referrals to help you understand your options and navigate workplace concerns. We can be reached by emailing [email protected] or by WhatsApp, SMS or phone at 250-253-9024.
