👕Tired of throwing out clothes when they wear out?
In the second in our series of Zero Waste Sooke reskilling workshops on Saturday, June 13, 10 a.m. to noon at the Sooke Region Museum, instructors Paula Johanson, Emily Trim, Lynn Moss, Anne Boquist, and Gillian Gravenor teach basic mending skills so you can repair your garments, upcycle them into something new, and help keep good clothes out of landfill sites. Who knew an old pair of jeans could become a tote bag! There will be two sewing machines, electrical outlets, ironing board and iron, pins, needles, buttons, thread, Velcro, elastic, a few pairs of scissors, old patterns, and some cloth. All you need to bring are old things that need new life! Have a sewing machine you need to learn how to use? Bring it along. The instructors will show you the basics so you can get more mending done at home.
Registration costs $15 and is limited to 15 people – so register soon to get your spot at this link:

Registration and payment can be online or by phoning or visiting the Museum. If the registration fee is a barrier to you, contact the Museum (250-642-6351 or [email protected]) and it can reduce or waive the fee. If you are able to pay a bit more, you'll have the option at checkout to donate money to these reskilling workshops to remove financial barriers for others.
👗This is a great chance to renew your wardrobe, help the planet, meet some new friends, and rediscover fun and useful skills.
Members of the Sooke Region Historical Society can receive a 15% discount for all workshops.
