Volunteers bring Meals on Wheels to seniors with mobility issues
This is National Volunteer Week, time to recognize, thank, and join those who give of their time and energy

It’s National Volunteer Week in Canada, and in fact the United Nations have declared 2026 International Volunteer Year. There are countless volunteer organizations that help people living in the Townships and that you can join. One of them is Community Aid, based in Lennoxville, which provides a wide range of services, one of which is its Meals on Wheels program.
Meals on Wheels delivers freshly prepared warm or frozen meals to the homes of people over the age of 65, people presenting a geriatric profile, or people convalescing, who are cannot or would prefer not to leave their homes to get food. There is a fee for the service, but volunteers help make it all possible.
Meals on Wheels at Community Aid serves the municipality of Lennoxville on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, preparing and delivering about 50 meals a day. And they bring about 25 meals a day to each of Waterville and North Hatley on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Each day, a volunteer helps prepare the meals with two members of the cooking staff, another prepares the bags for delivery, and more volunteers deliver them. On April 20, six volunteers each picked up bags for a different delivery route in Lennoxville.
To receive or to help deliver Meals On Wheels, you can go to their website at https://communityaid.ca/meals-on-wheels/ or call them at (819) 821-4779.
