Thank you to everyone who attended tonight’s Annual General Meeting. Tonight we discussed our successful year of 2025 as a collaborative group, our financials, clubhouse events, our recent Landowner appreciation breakfast review, upcoming trail and groomer equipment projects, and upcoming events for the coming year. Our group can proudly say we had a very successful 50th anniversary season! A huge thank you to all of our Landowners, sponsors, volunteers and organizers for the great year we truly can not do any of this without you!

This team does and excellent job and as the old saying goes, “why fix it if it ain’t broke.” Thank you to the backbone volunteers of our club for stepping up for another year.

We would like to thank our special guests from Bonn Trae snowmobile club and from the OFSC, Lorraine and Albert Pecoski for joining our AGM meeting tonight. We are lucky to be apart of a great group of 14 clubs within Snow Country Snowmobile Region - OFSC District 6 and to have great neighbours to work with.

We look forward to a great year ahead in the snowmobiling community!

A great tribute to a man who put a lot of time and effort into making trail systems for all to enjoy!

Lanark County Council has approved naming a portion of the Ottawa Valley Recreational Trail (OVRT) from Beckwith Township through Carleton Place for volunteer Ian Edwards to honour his extensive contributions to the county’s trails network.

CAO Kurt Greaves said the Lanark County Trails Sub-Committee wanted to see Edwards recognized for his contribution. He outlined his involvement as an active representative of the sub-committee and the local snowmobile and ATV community, as well as his numerous contributions to the trails, including:
• Designing and obtaining approvals for the replacement of the Baird Trail boardwalk and leading a crew of volunteers to complete it
• Looking after annual repairs to the Fall River Bridge on the Tay-Havelock Trail and coordinating volunteers and supply purchases
• Securing a grant from the Ontario Federation of Snowmobile Clubs for upgrades and conversion of the Carleton Place train bridge on the OVRT to a trail bridge

Edwards received a Lanark County Award of Excellence in 2018 for Volunteerism/Community Service/Recreation. Greaves noted he was active in Carleton Place and the surrounding community, including involvement with the Carleton Place and District Memorial Hospital Foundation, Mississippi Golf Club, Upper Canada Snowmobile Region, Ontario Federation of Snowmobile Clubs, Beautiful Eastern Association of Snowmobile Trails and Lanark County Crime Stoppers. He passed away in June 2025.

Warden Richard Kidd (Beckwith Reeve) said since knowing Edwards for most of his life, he was honoured to be part of this important tribute. “Ian was an incredible volunteer who did a tremendous amount of work to enhance our trails network. We are grateful for his contributions, which have benefitted so many residents and visitors in Lanark County.”

As part of the public consultation process, the OFSC has shared its perspective on the proposed ALTO high-speed rail network and the importance of maintaining trail connectivity, respecting private landowners, and protecting the up to $6B in economic activity generated each season. Without coordination and consultation to retain snowmobile trail connectivity, the proposed high-speed train network would critically damage organized snowmobiling in Ontario.

All trails in Snow Country D6 have closed for the season.
We’d like to thank our dedicated volunteers & staff for another great season. 14 clubs provided riders over 2800 km of available trail, 9000 hours of grooming, and a season stretching from mid December to April 4th.
To our landowners and supporters, we couldn’t have done it without you. Thank you!
Just because the trails have closed doesnt mean the work stops. Our Clubs are already gearing up for the 2026-2027 season and could use your help. Reach out to us and we’ll put you In touch with your local club.
