This Thankful Tuesday we are celebrating and thanking South West District Palliative Care Inc. for their support of people experiencing serious illness and loss.
Our Executive Director Averill recently attended a meeting of South West District Palliative Care (SWDPC) to provide them an update on Camp Stepping Stones and receive a donation of $1500 in support of the program, a grief camp that provides children who have experienced the death of someone loved with an opportunity to connect, remember and receive support in a caring environment.
SWDPC has been supporting Camp Stepping Stones since it started and this year provided funds for the wrap up BBQ for campers, families, volunteers and staff.
An additional $250 was donated to support the provision of coffee, tea and hot chocolate in the palliative care room at Stonewall Hospital. While simple, these comforts can make a meaningful difference for patients and families spending difficult and often lengthy hours together at the hospital.
“These are both wonderful examples of the small, but meaningful ways we can support people experiencing serious illness, loss, and grief,” said Sandra Smith. “We are very pleased to work alongside Interlake Eastern Health Foundation to help provide compassionate support to families in the communities we serve.”
