KidFish is about more than fishing — it’s about family, community, and making a difference in the lives of children across Manitoba!

Since 2015, KidFish has brought families, anglers, volunteers, and generous sponsors together for an annual ice fishing derby on the Red River in Selkirk, Manitoba. Our mission is simple: bring people together for a great day on the ice while raising funds to support children and families who need it most.

❤️ 𝗙𝗶𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗮 𝗖𝗮𝘂𝘀𝗲 KidFish proudly supports the Children’s Hospital Foundation of Manitoba and the CancerCare Manitoba Foundation. Together, our community has helped raise over $𝟱𝟯𝟲,𝟬𝟬𝟬 for children’s health and care in Manitoba!

🎣 𝗠𝗮𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗙𝗶𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗔𝗰𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗯𝗹𝗲 We love inspiring the next generation of anglers! With youth prizes, family-friendly activities, and 𝘧𝘳𝘦𝘦 𝘪𝘤𝘦 𝘧𝘪𝘴𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘳𝘰𝘥 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘭 𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘣𝘰𝘴 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘧𝘪𝘳𝘴𝘵 600 𝘬𝘪𝘥𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘳𝘰𝘶𝘨𝘩 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘨𝘢𝘵𝘦, we’re helping create lifelong memories and a love for the outdoors.

🤝 𝗣𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗯𝘆 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆KidFish is made possible by dedicated volunteers, local businesses, sponsors, donors, and participants who believe in giving back. Every ticket purchased, prize donated, and hour volunteered helps make a difference.

At the heart of KidFish is one big belief: when a community comes together, amazing things can happen.

🚨 THEFT OF LAC DU BONNET ICE FISHING DERBY PRIZES 🚨

The Lac du Bonnet Ice Fishing Derby Committee is extremely disappointed to report that our prize storage trailer was broken into and over $20,000 worth of prizes were stolen. The trailer was locked and secured when it was broken into. The stolen prizes were purchased in preparation for the 2027 Lac du Bonnet Ice Fishing Derby.

⚠️ PLEASE KEEP AN EYE OUT
If you see anyone attempting to sell any of these items, particularly new or unopened items or multiple identical items, please do not confront the seller or attempt to recover the property yourself. Instead, please contact the Lac du Bonnet RCMP through the police non-emergency line at 204-345-6311.

If you have information but would prefer to remain anonymous, you can also contact T.I.P.S. / Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477). When reporting suspicious items or listings, please provide as much information as possible, including photos, screenshots, names/usernames, locations, vehicle information, or links to online listings.

We also ask everyone to be cautious about purchasing these items if you suspect they may be stolen. If you come across a listing that appears suspicious, please report it rather than engaging with the seller.

This is a significant setback for the Derby, but we are not going to let it stop us. The committee works hard throughout the year to secure prizes that anglers actually want and to make the Lac du Bonnet Ice Fishing Derby an event that our community and visiting anglers look forward to every year. These prizes represented a substantial investment and were purchased specifically in preparation for the 2027 derby.

We are incredibly disappointed that someone would target an event that is supported by so many volunteers, sponsors, businesses, families and members of our community. That said, we will work hard to overcome this setback and continue planning for the 2027 Lac du Bonnet Ice Fishing Derby. We appreciate everyone in the community keeping their eyes and ears open. Even one piece of information could help.

🚸 Please remember that while classes aren't back in session until next week, school zones take effect again tomorrow (September 1). Drivers caught speeding in a school zone could face a fine of at least $200 and move down two levels on the Driver Safety Rating (DSR) scale.

Please be safe and slow down. Saving a few seconds on your drive isn't worth putting a child's safety at risk.
