Hurricane Melissa was the first Category 5 catastrophic tropical cyclone to hit the small island of Jamaica in 40 years, late October. Many homes and businesses were decimated by the storm, with the following floods washing away livestock, produce and much more amenities vital for the country to run.

Our community needs our help. Let’s come together to support The Morning Detour and ASE Community Foundation in their efforts to help rebuild Jamaica after Hurricane Melissa.

🌻✨Meet Rooted & Rising: Community Wellness Exhibition’s Community Partner The National Eating Disorder Information Centre ! 🌱☀️

🌿NEDIC is Canada’s source for eating disorder education and support since 1985. They operate a national toll-free helpline and live chat program, providing in-the-moment support, information, resources, and navigation of healthcare services to people struggling with eating disorders, as well as the families, friends, and professionals who care for them. They frequently create resources that are listed on NEDIC.ca and maintain a national service provider directory to help people locate healthcare options that work with people affected by eating disorders. With a focus on prevention and risk factors, NEDIC’s community education program delivers workshops to youth, educators, and parents in school settings and facilitates capacity-building professional development to youth-serving providers and healthcare professionals.🌿

🌻NEDIC will be facilitating a panel discussion on finding the balance: navigating conversations around “healthy” eating and exercise. In this panel discussion, we will hear from parents, clinicians, and youth with lived experience of an eating disorder as they share their experience and strategies for supporting your relationship with eating, movement, and body image.🌻
