Today, on World Hunger Day, we pause to acknowledge a truth that the data has confirmed for decades: hunger is not a problem of scarcity. It is a problem of will, of systems, and of collective action.
At Zero Hunger Project, we are building the awareness, partnerships, and policy frameworks needed to make SDG2, Zero Hunger, a reality.

This year's World Hunger Day theme, The End of Hunger is in our Hands, is not a metaphor. It is a mandate for governments, corporations, civil society, and individuals to act with urgency and intention.

If your organization is looking to build meaningful partnerships around food security, advocacy, and SDG2, we would welcome the conversation.

⚠️ Food insecurity is not a distant risk. It is already affecting communities, economies and families around the world.

This quote from The Zero Hunger Project, written by Suman Roy, CEO and founder of the Zero Hunger Project, is a reminder that the choices we make today will shape the future of food security.

🌾 Resilient food systems
πŸ’‘ Innovation that reaches communities
πŸ“£ Stronger policies
🀝 Shared responsibility

These are not optional. They are essential if we want to protect future generations from deeper hunger, rising food costs and widening inequality.

At the Zero Hunger Project, we believe the warning signs must lead to action.

Because a more food-secure future is still within reach.

Last week, our CEO, Suman Roy was in Calgary at the 2026 Together / Ensemble Conference (May 19–20), organized by SDSN Canada; a gathering of leaders, policymakers, and changemakers united by one purpose: Mobilizing Local Action for Global Impact.

Hearing keynotes from Honourable Bob Rae and Secretary Leslie Church was a definite highlight, and three words from Honourable Bob Rae, "Mind the Gap," will continue to shape the way we approach our work at the Zero Hunger Project

It was also a wonderful opportunity to reconnect with familiar faces and meet new ones, all working towards a more just and sustainable world.
Thank you to SDSN Canada for bringing together such an incredible community of changemakers. We are proud to be part of this important conversation. 🌍

The future of food will be shaped in our cities.

By 2050, nearly seven in 10 people are expected to live in urban areas. That makes city food systems one of the most important frontiers in the fight against hunger.

As cities grow, so does the need for stronger planning around:

🍽️ Access to nutritious food
🌱 Sustainable local food systems
🚚 Fair and efficient distribution
♻️ Reduced food waste
🀝 Community-led solutions

Ending hunger will require more than producing enough food. It will require cities that are prepared, resilient and built around people’s right to food.

At the Zero Hunger Project, we believe the future must be planned with food security at its centre.

🍽️ Food security is about more than filling plates.

It is about dignity, equity, health and the systems that allow people and communities to thrive.

This quote is from The Zero Hunger Project, written by Dr. (Hon) Suman Roy, CEO and founder of the Zero Hunger Project. It reminds us that the fight against hunger is also a fight for a fairer and more resilient society.

🌍 When people have reliable access to nutritious food, children can learn better, families can live with greater stability and communities can build stronger futures.

🀝 At the Zero Hunger Project, we believe lasting change begins with collaboration, shared responsibility and the courage to address hunger at its roots.

Because a hunger-free world is not only possible, it is necessary.

πŸŽ₯ To address hunger meaningfully, we first need to understand what drives it.

We have put together four videos worth watching for anyone who wants to learn more about why hunger continues to affect millions of people around the world β€” and what needs to change.

🌍 From global food security trends
🍽️ To the root causes of hunger
πŸ’‘ To new ways of thinking about food systems, equity and access

These videos offer important perspectives on one of the most urgent issues of our time.

At the Zero Hunger Project, we believe awareness is the first step toward action. When we understand the problem more clearly, we can work together toward solutions that are stronger, fairer and more sustainable.
