🍎 Hungry on the trail? Need a snack? Planning a meal? 🥪
One of the best-kept secrets of the Howard Watson Trail is the local food you can find right along the way. Here are two spots to fuel up between Waterworks and Blackwell:

🐓 Sassafras Farms — a charming self-serve roadside stand (love the rooster!). Pop the cooler, grab what’s fresh, and leave your payment in the honour box. Trailside snacking at its finest.

🌽 Macklins Farm — a welcoming country farm store just off the trail, perfect for stocking up on local produce.

Supporting these little local spots is part of what makes riding and walking our trails so special. 🌳

It’s summer in Sarnia, and there are no shortage of trails to explore. If you're heading out for a hike or stroll, be sure to stay safe and be courteous by following some simple trail etiquette.

Before you head out, take a moment to review some trail etiquette. Follow the “DOs and DON’Ts”

✅DO:
- Keep right & pass on the left
- Yield to pedestrians
- Wear a helmet if you’re riding a bike
- Use a bell or voice when passing
- Leash and clean up after pets
- Stay on the trail
- Respect nature & wildlife
- Be alert and courteous

❌DON’T:
- Litter
- Speed or ride recklessly
- Block the trail
- Disturb wildlife
- Let pets off-leash

One of our favourite events of the year returns to the Howard Watson & Blackwell Trails. Whether you run or walk, there’s a distance for everyone — 5K, 10K, or 15K — heading north on the HWT from Michigan Ave.

🚴🚶🏻 If you haven’t been on the Howard Watson Trail east of Waterworks lately — you’re in for a treat! 🚶🏾‍♀️🚴

The rough surface is gone, replaced with a fresh, smooth new tread that’s an absolute pleasure to walk, roll, and ride. We rode it ourselves this week and couldn’t stop smiling. 😄

You told us about the rough surface — we heard your feedback and responded. These are our trails, and when residents take ownership and make their voices heard, real change happens. It’s a great example of how we can create positive change right here in our own community.

A BIG thank you to the City of Sarnia crews who made this happen. This is exactly how we keep making our trails better for everyone. 🌳

🚧 Good things are happening at the London Rd trailhead! 🚧

If you’ve been by the Howard Watson Trail at London Rd lately, you may have noticed some activity underway to make the entrance better for everyone who walks, rolls, and rides.

A big thank you to the City of Sarnia crews making it happen. Small improvements like these are exactly how we keep building one of the best trail networks in the province. 🌳

More people are using the trails than ever — let’s keep the momentum going. See you out there! 🚶‍♀️🚴‍♂️
