As promised, here are the photos from this past Saturday’s 2nd Annual Dinking for Duchenne Pickleball Tournament in support of Muscular Dystrophy Canada. Walk & Roll Update: Goal Smashed! 🎒
Next stop: Our Annual Pickleball tournament! 🏆

There is something so special about the way this community rallies together.

We wanted to start by sharing a huge thank you to everyone who supported Thatcher’s early fundraising efforts. His goal was simple: he wanted to make sure he raised enough to get his brother, Colsen, an MD Canada backpack for school next year. Thanks to your incredible kindness, Thatcher didn’t just meet his goal, he more than doubled it. We have already raised $650 because of your generosity, and seeing Thatcher’s pride in helping his brother has been a moment we will never forget 💚

With that momentum behind us, we are officially turning our focus to the court. We are so excited to announce the 2nd Annual Dinking for Duchenne Pickleball Tournament, taking place on Saturday, April 4th, at the Carleton Community Center.

This women's tournament is more than just a day of sports; it is awareness and hope for Colsen and every family like ours living with Muscular Dystrophy. We are inviting women from across the community to join us for a day of competition and connection. We will have prizes for our top three teams in each category, and a canteen stocked to keep everyone fueled.

Every dollar raised through this tournament goes directly into Colsen’s Walk & Roll campaign, supporting Muscular Dystrophy Canada’s mission to fund vital research and family services. You can follow our progress or contribute to the journey here:

We also plan on holding a raffle this year and will be announcing those details later on. If you would like to donate to the tournament or the raffle, please message us at [email protected].

Thank you for standing with us, for cheering on our boy, and for helping us fight rare disease with ferocity. We can’t wait to see you on April 4th.

Thatcher’s Birthday Wish 🎊

Thatcher’s birthday is coming up on January 30th, and he has a very special mission in mind. He wants to kickstart our 2026 Walk and Roll for Muscular Dystrophy Canada by raising $300 before February 28.

He isn't doing this for himself. If he hits his goal, he earns an official MDC bookbag, and he is determined to give it to Colsen so his little brother can start school this fall with a boost of confidence and a reminder of the community behind him.

It is about more than a bag; it is about a big brother looking out for his little brother and supporting a cause that means everything to our family.

If you would like to help Thatcher reach his goal for Colsen, you can donate here:

Thank you for helping Thatcher show Colsen just how much he is loved!

It’s time for the Walk & Roll again! Since June 2024, the pages of our lives have looked different than we ever imagined, but we aren't just character

Such a huge win! 🎉

We are thrilled to announce that Health Canada has officially approved AGAMREE® (vamorolone), the first and only approved medicine for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD) in Canada.
This is more than a regulatory win; it’s a turning point for families across the country.

Why this matters:

➡️ DMD is a type of muscular dystrophy that is rare, causes weakness and a wasting of the muscle due to the absence of a protein called dystrophin. If the body is lacking dystrophin, muscle cells become damaged, and movements that are considered natural, such as getting up from the floor and walking, become challenging. Individuals with DMD typically lose the ability to walk in their early teens and have increasing cardiac and respiratory difficulties. Bone thinning and scoliosis are also common for those with Duchenne.

➡️ AGAMREE® is granted approval under Health Canada’s priority review process, which means it was fast-tracked due to its potential to deliver real impact.

➡️ In clinical trials, it showed comparable benefits to standard corticosteroids but with fewer side effects on linear growth, bone health, and behaviour.

➡️ According to our very own database, there are more than 800 boys and young adults in Canada living with DMD, and many could benefit from this treatment.

What’s next:
AGAMREE® is not yet commercially available, but work is already underway to make it accessible in Canada as soon as possible. This approval doesn’t just represent a new option; it carries hope that future treatments will find an even stronger footing in Canada.

Muscular Dystrophy Canada has long championed research and advocated for better treatment options. We supported the review process for AGAMREE and amplified the voices of our community to highlight the urgent need for safer, more effective therapies. This approval reflects years of persistence and collaboration that have broken down barriers through research and discovery.

Let’s celebrate this moment together and keep pushing forward until every Canadian living with Duchenne has access to the treatments and supports they need.
