Johanson Photography for sharing your expertise; also thanks to Trouw Nutrition for sending your nutritionist (if anyone has her name please tell us, I totally never got it), and thanks to the Suffolk ewe who was such a well-behaved test subject!

Which one would you bid on based just on the photos?
(BTW they are both taken by the same person.)
The ASBA Photo/Video workshop is May 30 at the Lyster farm north of Halkirk. With very strong interest in trying again to have an ASBA-sponsored online sale (potentially this fall), it is very important for producers to be able to properly represent their sheep digitally.
Come and take some photos with your camera or your smart phone, the Badlands Spring Select sale sheep will be available as your guinea pigs. Caelidh from C.E. Johanson Photography will be on hand to guide you and answer your questions. Also hear Mike Grimmeyer's talk on pre-sale presentation (wool length, condition, etc.) and then a talk from Trouw's nutritionist.
We can get you all the information you need to successfully market sheep online.
Pre-register by email at [email protected] and pay a registration fee of just $25 per farm (e-transfer to the same email). Registrants will receive a pin/directions and information about time via email.

EIGHTEEN! That's how many entries we had for the ASBA Youth Incentive program!
The entries are with our judge now, and while we hope to announce the winners on May 15, because of the high number of entries and the great variety of types of entry, we are prepared to give our judge a few more days if they request it.
The entries were phenomenal! We had great graphics, excellent writing, poetry, drawings, loads of photos, many videos, and 18 deserving juniors.
We are pleased to announce that with the producer-funded portion and a tiny top-up from ASBA, we are now giving out not one, but FOUR awards! The entries were split evenly into age groups, nine 13 and under, and nine 14 and up. First and second place will be awarded in each age split.
Stay tuned for the winners!

There is still some time to add your contribution and grow this fund! The deadline is April 30. This is also the deadline for the juniors to apply for the incentive, so at that time we will decide how to disburse the producer-funded portion. Will there be a larger award? A second award? An honorable mention? An age split? Not knowing is half the fun! The more we raise, the more options we have! All producers that contribute to this fund will be named here. Credit where credit is due!

Reminder that there are 5 days left for juniors (21 and under) to apply for the ASBA's youth incentive! Get a guaranteed $500 rebate on a registered ewe, and watch to see how much more it could be!
Also to all members, there are also 5 days left to make a contribution to the growing producer-funded portion of this program. Most are contributing $50, some have even contributed $100! The board will decide on May 1 how the producer-funded portion will be disbursed.
