We are so sorry to learn of the devastating fire at the restaurant on Keating X Rd.

In addition to the dreams and aspirations of the current owners, that site holds a lot of history from over the decades.

From humble beginnings as a gas station, to Geary’s Cafe, to the PorterHouse, to Smitty’s, to Sassy’s, to Floyds, and finally to Garden Fork.

A lot of our community have worked or eaten at that spot over the years. As well, many visitors enroute to the Butchart Gardens have enjoyed meals there.

Glad to know that no one was injured in the fire, or fighting it. Thanks to Central Saanich Fire Department Central Saanich Vol Firefighters Association for quick response.

Pick-up ball games are sometimes the best, aren’t they? When all you need are a few friends, a ball, a bat, and the local park.⚾

We enjoyed watching this group of youngsters, just having fun playing ball, with someone’s jacket filling in as the first base.

If you’re looking for future players, The Victoria HarbourCats Baseball Club, keep your eyes on this local talent. 🤩
