Village Voices is back for season 2!

We have a new location thanks to generous support from Forestdale Home. And as a bonus, we'll get to share some beautiful music with the residents and community members there.

We will be singing a variety of 2- and 3-part arrangements from broadway, spritiuals, jazz, pop, and more!

Meet new people, have fun, and learn something new, all in a low-pressure, inclusive environment.

Village Voices is in need of an accompanist for the afternoons of December 6th and December 14th, Hillsborough and Riverside-Albert, respectively. We have explored a few avenues with no luck securing someone so far. The music is easy and fun, and we can offer payment for your service.

🎶 Village Voices is a welcoming, inclusive community choir for youth (ages 13+) and adults of all abilities, skill levels, and backgrounds.

Our choir is about more than just music. It's about building connections, supporting well-being, and encouraging lifelong learning and personal growth.

Our first program will be a festive collection of traditional folk songs, choral standards, and contemporary works, encompassing cultures and languages from around the world. 🌍

We’re working toward a community performance this December. 🎄

Feeling a little nervous? 😅 Don’t worry — here’s what you can expect:

• 🌟 Low-pressure rehearsals with clear instruction and supportive feedback
• 🎧 Helpful resources to guide your learning (mp3 tracks, sheet music, lyrics)
• ⏰ A manageable time commitment of 2–3 hours per week, on Sunday evenings in Riverside-Albert (stay tuned for exact details)
• 🎵 Accessible harmony parts (mostly 2- and 3-part), workable with a range of voice types and experience levels
• 💲 $100 fee per season (financial assistance available) to cover rehearsal space and operational costs

Most importantly, you can expect to have fun learning beautiful music with friends and neighbors in a welcoming, encouraging space.

Meet the conductor!

Catherine Gautreau is originally from Wabush, Labrador, where she was fortunate to grow up with many opportunities in music. From a young age, she studied piano, voice, and French horn, nurturing a lifelong passion for music education. Catherine holds a Bachelor of Music and a Bachelor of Music Education from Memorial University. Over the past nine years, she has taught classroom music, choir, and band in K–12 schools across Newfoundland, Montreal, and Southeast New Brunswick. Since 2019, Catherine has lived in Albert Mines with her husband and two young children, and currently teaches music at Caledonia Regional School.

About "Village Voices", she writes:

"I am so excited to get this idea off the ground! Community music has always been one of my biggest passions. I want to share the joy of singing with as many people as I can. I believe that the experience of being in a choir can be truly transformative. I hope folks will step outside their comfort zone and give it a try!"
