Last evening, 20th June 2026, MSBCA held their 50th Anniversary at a special prestigious restaurant in Richmond. Even though many of their regular members were out of town or not able to make it for one reason of another, those who attended had a great time reflecting the achievements of their past 50 years. Sharing Malaysia, Singapore and Brunei's culturally to Canadians and visitors from around the world who crossed part with the association. The upgraded Ten course Chinese Dinners was a hit, the floor show was even better. The Rhythm of Borneo was a super hit. They young ladies showed their cultural autistic graceful moves and the hunter young man with his blowpipe skills! Thank you , Consulate of Malaysia for sponsoring that part of the show. Thank you Doris Chung ( and BMS Dance group) for performing three beautiful dances. MSBCA appreciates your volunteering contribution that go back over 20 years) The evening ended with most of the guests dancing on the floor doing the Joget (a Malaysian traditional dance) the twist, Macarena and many more. As we are having our 50th Golden Jubilee Anniversary Dinner on June 20th, we felt that it was too close to the Potluck night.

What a beautiful May evening for our MSBCA Monthly Potluck! Over 50 members and friends filled the clubhouse with amazing Southeast Asian flavours, warm conversations, and that unmistakable MSBCA spirit.

From fragrant curries to homestyle stir‑fries and nostalgic desserts, every dish brought a taste of Malaysia, Singapore, and Brunei. But the real highlight was the people — the laughter, the connections, and the welcoming energy that makes our community feel like home.

We were thrilled to welcome a new potential member who travelled all the way from Bellingham, USA, as well as a young newcomer eager to volunteer and help shape MSBCA’s future. Seeing fresh faces and new enthusiasm is always inspiring.

As the night wrapped up, one thing was clear: this potluck wasn’t just a meal — it was a celebration of culture, friendship, and the exciting summer ahead.

🌤️ A Sunny Vancouver Evening, Good Food, and Even Better Company — MSBCA’s April Potluck Recap

There are some evenings that simply feel like community — and our April Monthly Potluck was one of them.

Despite the kind of gorgeous, sunny Vancouver day that usually tempts people outdoors to beaches, patios, and seawall strolls, our MSBCA members showed their true colours. As the sun dipped behind the skyline, more and more familiar faces began streaming into the clubhouse, each one carrying a dish, a smile, and that unmistakable MSBCA warmth.

By the time the evening was in full swing, we had over 50 members gathered — a wonderful turnout that filled the room with chatter, laughter, and the comforting aromas of home‑cooked favourites. It was a reminder that even on the brightest days, our community shines brightest when we come together.

The atmosphere was relaxed, joyful, and full of that unmistakable “kampung spirit” we all cherish. "Aunties " compared cooking notes, and friends old and new found themselves laughing over shared plates and shared stories.

As the evening wound down, one thing was clear: our community continues to show up for one another, rain or shine — or in this case, sunshine and blue skies. The April potluck wasn’t just a meal; it was a celebration of togetherness, culture, and the simple joy of gathering.
