LIONS CLUBS INTERNATIONAL VISION WEEK October 8–18, 2026
Did you know that more than 2 billion people worldwide live with a near or distance vision impairment? Healthy vision shapes how we learn, work, read, and participate in daily life — yet millions still face barriers to care.
Since Helen Keller inspired Lions in 1925, we’ve been committed to serving and advocating for people who are blind or visually impaired. A century later, that mission continues.
From October 8 to 18, Lions Clubs around the world will be hosting service activities to raise awareness about vision and support those living with vision impairment.
Here in Oak Ridges, we’ll be: 👓 Sharing information about the Canadian Lions Eyeglasses Recycling Centre (CLERC), which provides recycled eyewear free of charge to people in developing countries. 🐾 Encouraging our community to save pull tabs from beverage containers to support the training of Dog Guides through the Lions Foundation of Canada Dog Guides in Oakville.

Every pair of eyeglasses recycled, and every pull tab saved makes a difference. COME SERVE WITH US.
