Look who's been adopted! It's Jax, our handsome German Shepherd/Malinois mix. Jax was in foster care for 11 months before he found his furever family, but as the saying goes "good things come to those who wait". We don't rush these animals out the door. We take the time to find the right match for the animal and the humans. It's a very important decision for the rest of the animal's life!
Jax is the last to be adopted of the litter of 6 German Shepherd/Malinois pups that we took into rescue last year. He had a few potential applicants along the way, but for one reason or another, they felt Jax wasn't the right fit for them. His wonderful foster family, Natalia, Robert and son, Mark, were happy to foster him until the right home came along.π
Along came Kathleen and Marshall who were looking for a dog for their farm, and we were hopeful that this could be the right match. We felt that Jax needed a job or jobs, to keep him mentally and physically stimulated as he is very smart, so the possibility of him living on a farm was welcomed. After going through the application process and meeting him, Kathleen and Marshall wanted to adopt him, and soon they welcomed Jax into their home.
It was a bit rough at first while Jax adjusted to his new surroundings and new people. He was on hyper alert of everything in his new environment, including new people that came to their home. But we are delighted to say that Kathleen has reported on at least 2 occasions that Jax has become "quite the farm dog" and has settled right in. Kathleen told us recently of how smart he is. She said a package was left at their gate at the end of the laneway, one that they could barely even see from a distance, but Jax focused on it being there and barked to let them know.
The family has cattle and chickens, and a cat named 007, so Jax has new animal friends too!
A HUGE THANK YOU to his wonderful foster, Natalia, Robert and Mark for all the love and care given to Jax.πΎπ
CONGRATULATIONS and THANK YOU to Kathleen and Marshall for their patience and compassion while Jax learned to trust new people and become settled in their home.
We hope you enjoy these pictures of Jax's journey from foster care to adoption. πΎπ
