Saskatchewan Arts Alliance The SAA is a non-profit coalition of arts organizations and an advocate for the arts in Saskatchewan.

The Saskatchewan Arts Alliance (SAA) advocates on issues such as public funding of the arts, freedom of expression and artists' working conditions. We advocate healthy levels of public and private support, encourage public acknowledgment of the arts, encourage and assist in the development of arts education, provide information related to the arts and provide a forum for issues affecting the arts and cultural industries.

The Culture Works Canada Individual Revenue Survey response period is extended to August 25th, 2026! Join the hundreds of respondents who help our community demonstrate the complexity of cultural work and revenue portfolios!

This is the only national study that captures paid and volunteer occupations with education profiles, revenues in dollars, hours and proportions of independent contracts vs employment.

Our Executive Director, Em Ironstar, has shared a response to Saskatoon’s public art debate! It reflects on what the debate revealed about public art, communication, policy, and city-building — and why the path forward should be review, refinement, and better communication, not elimination.

With nearly 40 written submissions, dozens of residents speaking or writing to Council, and more than 340 messages generated through SAA’s campaign, this conversation showed that people care deeply about how public spaces are shaped.

UPDATE: The motion was defeated!

Saskatoon City Council has defeated the motion to remove the Civic Capital Project Public Art Funding Stream.

Following the lunch break, additional motions will be brought forward to review the existing public art funding policy. We’ll be following the discussion closely and will share our response shortly.
