Saskatchewan Arts Alliance The SAA is a non-profit coalition of arts organizations and an advocate for the arts in Saskatchewan.

The Saskatchewan Arts Alliance (SAA) advocates on issues such as public funding of the arts, freedom of expression and artists' working conditions. We advocate healthy levels of public and private support, encourage public acknowledgment of the arts, encourage and assist in the development of arts education, provide information related to the arts and provide a forum for issues affecting the arts and cultural industries.

Today is the day — Arts Day on the Hill 2026 with Canadian Arts Coalition/Coalition canadienne des arts! Arts Day on the Hill brings artists, arts leaders and organizations from across Canada together to advocate with one voice for a strong and sustainable arts and culture sector.

Delegates have been busy preparing for 26 meetings on Parliament Hill. They represent the diversity of Canada’s arts and culture sector with a shared purpose: ensuring arts and culture remain central to the strength, vitality and future of Canada!

This year, they are advocating for a permanent $140 million increase to the Canada Council for the Arts | Conseil des arts du Canada — an investment that would help strengthen the sector and support artists and arts organizations across Canada.

On August 23, our Executive Director, Em Ironstar, was in Prince Albert for the dedication of Passage Home, a new bronze monument and healing garden by Saulteaux artist Dr. Mary Longman!

Passage Home commemorates survivors of residential schools, day schools, and the Sixties Scoop, while creating a permanent public place for remembrance, grief, reflection, and connection.

Tomorrow is the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation (Orange Shirt Day). This is an important time to reflect and learn more about the true impacts of Residential schools on First Nations, Métis and/or Inuit peoples living on this land, to better understand the change needed, and to commit to meaningful action.

The SAA office will be closed so that staff can have the day to honour, reflect and learn.

CARFAC National had announced the launch of Buy Authentic, an educational campaign developed by CARFAC National to support ethical engagement with Indigenous Art and Artists in Canada, supported by Canadian Heritage!

In response to the widespread circulation of inauthentic, culturally appropriated Indigenous-style products and fraudulent creators, this campaign offers tools for consumers, retailers, and Indigenous creatives to make informed, respectful decisions.

This work brings forward Indigenous Artist voices, practical guidance, and shared responsibilities to support Indigenous cultural expression and protection of artists’ livelihoods.
