Alberta North Region is proud to be part of the Canadian Pony Club—an organization that creates real opportunities for youth to step up, get involved, and be part of the Pony Club community.

One of those opportunities is currently in the works—a Canadian Pony Club Convention.

This is exactly what Pony Club is about. Building confident, capable young people and giving them the chance to take part in something that extends beyond their day-to-day riding.

More details to come.

We are home from Canadian Pony Club National Quiz!

One of the unique things about Pony Club is that it really can be a lifelong adventure. From our youngest members just starting out at five to our Horsemasters who are still learning, competing, and having fun as adults, there is always room to grow.

This year at National Quiz, Alberta North was proudly represented by both youth members and Horsemasters. It is proof that Pony Club is about so much more than riding. It is about friendship, growth, and a love of learning that never stops.

A huge shoutout to our ANR Chair and her C Team for placing first in the Horsemaster C Team category. What an amazing accomplishment for her first Quiz!

We are so proud of everyone who attended and represented our region so well. There was plenty of learning, laughter, and connection happening all weekend, which is exactly what Pony Club is all about.

Our Final ANR Team for National Quiz!

We’ve loved introducing each of our teams, and now we’re excited to share the last group representing Alberta North at Nationals in Calgary.

Novalee from Garden Valley Pony Club has been in Pony Club for nine years and is a C2 member. She treasures the opportunities she’s had to travel and the amazing people she has met through the years. She is most excited to reconnect with friends, spend time with her team, and most of all, have fun.

Dolly from Buffalo Ridge Pony Club, also a C2 member with nine years in Pony Club, has gained knowledge and treasured the friendships she has made across Canada. She can’t wait to reunite with faraway friends, pick up new horsey facts, and enjoy the experience with her teammates.

Emma, a D2 member from Buffalo Ridge Pony Club, has been part of Pony Club for three years. She loves meeting new people, learning new things, and embracing all the opportunities Pony Club offers. At Quiz, she’s most excited about spending time with her team and soaking up the whole experience.

Jane, from Buffalo Ridge Pony Club, has been in Pony Club for two years. She enjoys learning new things and spending time with her horses and friends. She’s eager to try something new at Nationals and have fun with her teammates.

Our chaperone Nicole, also from Buffalo Ridge Pony Club, has been part of Pony Club for nine years. She loves seeing members grow into well-rounded equestrians and cherishes the friendships and experiences they gain along the way.

Good luck to all the members attending quiz this weekend! Make us proud and most of all have fun!

National Quiz is fast approaching, and it’s not just our youth members who get to take part. Did you know that Horsemasters can compete at Quiz too? We’re thrilled to spotlight the amazing Horsemasters representing ANR this year.

First up is Alison Bachand-Lapointe from Strathcona Pony Club. Alison first joined Pony Club in 2014 and has loved the endless learning opportunities it provides. She’s excited to return to Quiz as a Horsemaster, looking forward to connecting with other HMs and enjoying a fun-filled weekend.

Kim Chung of Black Creek Pony Club joined as a Horsemaster in 2018 after her daughter started Pony Club back in 2011. For Kim, the best part of Pony Club is the strong foundation it builds in horsemanship, the community connections—and of course, PPG being the best! She’s eager to spend time with friends, meet new people, and share in the experience of Quiz.

Dallas Grubenmann brings both history and heart to the team. She was a youth member at Clymont Pony Club from 1987 to 1992 and rejoined in 2018 as a Horsemaster with Black Creek. Dallas loves Pony Club for its focus on sportsmanship, horsemanship, and the friendships it fosters. She’s looking forward to a weekend full of laughter, learning, and connecting with Horsemasters from across the country.

We’re so proud to have these dedicated Horsemasters representing ANR—they remind us that Pony Club is truly a community for every age and stage.

National Quiz is just a few short weeks away, and ANR is so excited to be sending multiple teams this year! We’re kicking things off by introducing one of our C Teams, who will be representing the region at National Quiz.

Leading the way as chaperone is Gillian Adamson of Buffalo Ridge Pony Club. With more than a decade as a youth member, five years as a Pony Club parent, and now serving as our Regional Education & Quiz Chair, Gillian has truly lived and breathed Pony Club. For her, it’s all about the smiles, the laughter, the friendships, and the memories that last a lifetime. She’s especially looking forward to helping more ANR members experience the fun of Nationals—and yes, she’s excited to have an excuse to buy a pair of Crocs for the “Rock Your Crocs” social!

Our team members are just as excited. Emily, from River Valley Pony Club, is a C level member in her eighth year who treasures the friendships and connections Pony Club has brought her. She can’t wait to meet new people from across the country and share the experience with her friends.

Harper, representing Cross Border Pony Club, is a D2 member in her fourth year. She loves the friendships and opportunities that Pony Club creates and is thrilled to be heading to Nationals for the very first time alongside her teammates.

And finally, Norah of Beaver River Pony Club is a C2 member celebrating her ninth year in Pony Club. Her favourite part has been growing as a horseperson while making memories with friends, and she is especially excited to meet new people and soak in the National Quiz atmosphere.

National Quiz is just a few short weeks away, and ANR is so excited to be sending multiple teams this year! We’re kicking things off by introducing one of our C Teams, who will be representing the region on the national stage.

✨ A Huge Thank You to Our ABC Theory Camp Experts & Supporters! ✨

Alberta North Region of the Canadian Pony Club had an incredible weekend at our A-B-C Theory Camp, where our riders took a deep dive into advanced horsemanship and equine knowledge. Not only did they expand their understanding of equine care, but they also had so much fun reconnecting with their Pony Club friends from across Alberta North Region.

We are beyond grateful to our amazing presenters who shared their expertise and passion:

Dr. Lanna Delaney (Delaney Veterinary Services) – Conformation & Undsoundness

Russel Crowe – Jumping and Course Building

Gillian Adamson – Fitness for You and Your Horse

Dr. Madison Ricard (Ponies and Pathology) – Equine Anatomy

Heather Rioux – Bit Fitting

Your knowledge and time are invaluable to our Pony Club members, and we appreciate you immensely.

A special thank you to the Wainwright Equine Centre, Wainwright Curling Club, and the Town of Wainwright for welcoming Alberta North Region and providing excellent facilities for our learning experience. Your hospitality made this event truly special.

Important update from Canadian Pony Club

🚨 SAFETY NOTICE – IMPORTANT UPDATE 🚨

Attention Canadian Pony Club Members!

Starting May 1st, 2025, Peacock Stirrups will no longer be permitted at any CPC-sanctioned mounted activities, including clinics, shows, lessons, and rallies.

Why the Change?
Reports have shown that peacock stirrups can pose a serious risk of injury during dismounting, as riders' clothing or body may get caught on the hook.

Safer Alternatives:

* Bent arm stirrups
* Breakaway stirrups with a hinged or flexible outside arm
* Stirrups designed to detach from the leather in case of a fall

Remember to always check manufacturer weight guidelines and ensure your stirrups are correctly sized for safety.

Thank you for prioritizing rider safety and for your cooperation.
