The Health Coordinator is responsible for coordinating all of the Nation’s health programs, for liaising with representatives of the Naskapi CLSC to ensure the efficient delivery of the said Programs and for assuming a managerial and mentoring role to the Nation’s he
alth workers (NNADAP Worker, Mental Health Worker, Wellness Worker, Cultural Animator and Activities Coordinator). The Special Projects Coordinator implements assigned projects and coordinates project activities with appropriate staff and project partners, ensures that projects are implemented with the requirements of contribution agreements and other funding agreements, evaluates and reports on project activities with a view to improving those activities if/when they are implemented again; prepares progress and activity reports to funders and to Council. The Cultural Support Workers provide cultural support services such as dialogue, ceremonies, prayers, and traditional healing, to former IRS students and their family members, when and where required, paying particular attention to those individuals in crisis. The Youth and Family Wellness Educator in Training assists in providing group counselling and support services to clients with addictions and family violence issues, including youth; coordinates weekly Alcoholics Anonymous meetings, Al-Anon meetings, Coalition for Teens, as well as other initiatives as they arise; provides programs to educate and promote addictions awareness and addiction-free lifestyles; assists in the referral of clients to treatment centres and especially provide them with aftercare upon the completion of their treatment and maintain a link with the treatment centres concerning client care and progress. The Activities Coordinator provides programs that promote wellness as a whole (physical, mental, intellectual, social, spiritual and cultural); ensures that a variety of sport, recreation and cultural programs are planned and implemented; mentors workers falling under the After School Program Initiative; coordinates communications of all activities being offered within the community of Kawawachikamach, ensuring community members are aware of the various programs/initiatives being offered with their community;
