3rd PG West Summit Pack

Thank you so much to the volunteers at the Regional District of Fraser-Fort George for the tour of the Public Safety Operations Building! 😀
The Cubs learned about different emergencies and the role of the Emergency Operations Centre. They got to pick a role (and wear a cool vest) then put a plan into action.
They learned about 911, when to call, who answers the phone, what they will ask, why they ask those questions and important information they should know.

Nice new door on one of the cabins 😀

This week was permit testing day. The kids demonstrated the skills they practiced. Scouters monitored their actions and asked questions. The cubs got a fire going and roasted marshmallows. A success!

This week Summit Pack reviewed knife safety from the week before. We worked toward the match permit this week. The kids were informed about the different types. How to light matches and practiced lighting candles.... over ..... and.....over....and.....over....again. The goal was to get some water boiling for hot chocolate on a fire. Not all attempts are wins. The kids had a good time!

This week the 3rd PG West Summit Pack cubs worked on skill building. They are working towards getting their permits. We went over knife safety which they then applied to create tinder bundles. They used matches to light the tinder bundle, added kindling and larger prices of wood to get a fire large enough to roast marshmallows. Great job kids!

Summit Cub Pack had a great first meeting!
We played a SAR game which helped us get to know each other and took a slight detour (using our compass) through the bush.
Looking forward to a great season 😀

This weekend was all sections camp for 3rd Prince George West. From a large all section game to smaller all sections activities the kids were worn down. Section time allowed the kids to slow down and go fishing, take some personal time check out some wild life. On Sunday the GC gathered the groups together and held a 'scouts own', a time to reflect about the year in scouting.
From opening ceremony to closing ceremony, the kids had a great time.
