Behind every massive weekend and perfectly executed bracket is a powerhouse making it all happen. Join us in congratulating our Tournament Coordinator, Nancy Hayashi, on being named the 2026 Tri-City Thunder Volunteer of the Year! 🏆 Nancy stepped up to the plate this season and hit it out of the park, successfully running the biggest tournaments in Tri-City history. From scheduling and logistics to ensuring every diamond was ready for first pitch, her hard work set a new standard for our association.
The feedback from visiting teams and coaches has been nothing short of incredible—proving what we already knew: Nancy brings absolute thunder to everything she does.

This year’s Peewee Most Sportsmanlike Team was awarded to 13U Allstars 🏅 Huge shout out to SportChek Coquitlam for sponsoring the award and providing swag bags for the players.

Overall, a very successful tournament with lots to celebrate. The Walter Bird holds a special place for us here at TC, and we hope to see you all next year!

This year marks the 52nd Walter Bird Memorial Tournament ⚾️

More than five decades ago, Walter Bird started the very first Single-A baseball tournament in BC, because he believed every player deserved the chance to experience tournament baseball. What started as one community tournament has become a long-standing Tri-City tradition.

For 52 years, the Bird family - along with countless volunteers - have continued to keep that tradition alive for generations of players.

We’re proud to host another great weekend of baseball. Come out and catch a game:

Huge congratulations to Tri-City Thunder 18u AAA standout shortstop Gustavo Villanueva on officially signing with Thompson Rivers University Wolfpack! ✍️🔥
Gustavo has been an absolute force in the infield and at the plate for the Thunder, and we couldn’t be prouder to see his hard work, dedication, and passion for the game pay off. TRU is getting an elite athlete and a phenomenal teammate.
