🎀 Fun Facts About the CIBC Run for the Cure

1. It started with just 1,500 people.
The very first Run for the Cure took place in 1992 in Toronto’s High Park. About 1,500 people participated and raised $85,000.

2. It has raised more than $540 MILLION! 💗
Since 1992, the Run has raised more than $540 million to support breast cancer research and programs across Canada.

3. It is the largest single-day, volunteer-led event for the breast cancer cause in Canada.
Thousands of Canadians come together at Run/Walk sites across the country every year. In 2025, more than 60,000 participants and volunteers took part in over 50 communities.

4. You don’t actually have to run!
The Run welcomes people who walk, run or stroll. The national event offers 1 km and 5 km options - so it’s really about coming together for a great cause!

5. CIBC has been involved for nearly 30 years.
CIBC became a title partner of the Run in 1997 and has continued to support the event ever since.

6. Team CIBC has raised more than $64 million.
CIBC employees, retirees, clients and communities have contributed more than $64 million through Team CIBC since CIBC became title sponsor.

7. The money doesn’t just go toward research.
Funds raised help support research, advocacy and practical support programs for people affected by breast cancer - including transportation, helplines, lodges, wigs and breast prostheses.

8. ✨💞The Run has helped change breast cancer outcomes.✨💞
The Canadian Cancer Society says that, since breast cancer mortality peaked in 1986, the death rate among women has been nearly cut in half, reflecting advances including earlier detection and improved treatment.

9. In 2025 alone, the Run raised more than $18 million.
That was from more than 60,000 participants and volunteers across Canada.

10. In 2025, the Pictou County CIBC Run for the Cure raised $34,000!

📣 A huge Thank you to Dawn, Heather, Kaylee, Josh, Jake and Jessica at Glen Lovat for hosting our very first Run for the Cure Golf Tournament!! It went off without a hitch because of each of you!!

📸 We said we’d have photos and do we have photos…

A big shout out to Jamie LeBlanc, who generously donated his time, talent and expertise to photograph our tournament. These photos captured so many great moments from the day, and we are incredibly grateful that Jamie was there to help us preserve those memories.

I hear he couldn’t have done it without his side kick and personal chauffeur, Dustin Diamond 😂 Thanks so much, Dustin, for driving Jamie around the course multiple times so he could capture these awesome moments! 💗

And to our amazing volunteers — thank you! From the early morning setup and registration, to keeping things moving throughout the tournament, helping with activities, prizes and everything in between, you gave your time and energy to make the day a success. We truly couldn’t have done it without you.

And of course, thank you to every golfer, sponsor, donor and supporter who came out and helped make the day what it was. This community continues to show up in such a big way for our Run for the Cure, and we are so grateful to you all. 💗

Now… enjoy the pictures and relive some of the best moments from the day! 🏌️‍♀️🏌️‍♂️📸

Thank you, Jamie LeBlanc, Dustin Diamond, Lynn Laffin, Janine MacLean, Hannah Fougere, Angie Campbell, Melissa Leblanc, Catherine Matthews, Michele Woodroffe, Sharon MacDonald, Michelle Buck, Joanne Reynolds, Cindy DeCoste and Mary Clare MacIntosh.
