I don’t even know where to start to show my appreciation for each of these fine folks! ❤️
Michele — our amazing finance person. She keeps our finances in order, keeps our spending down, and the amount of cheques she runs to the bank is more than I can even imagine! She is excellent at what she does, and it shows. Michele has also been a lifelong friend and continues to show up, year after year. I’m so lucky to have her. ❤️
My Mark — I touched briefly on him during my Run Day speech, but this guy has literally gone door to door to businesses asking for sponsorship. He is the support for me and our boys through everything, my best friend and my confidant. Without him, this committee honestly would not exist. He believes in my crazy ideas and somehow always ends up helping make them happen. I love you, Mark. ❤️
Keith — I met Keith back in 1999 (ish)and we went through our 20s together! He’s always been my fun-lovin’ friend who I know I can count on when things get hard — usually for a good laugh. (I won’t say what some of our jokes are about because they’re likely inappropriate… which makes them even funnier 😂.) Keith joined the committee this year and, between him and his wife Carla — who, yes, Carla and Travel Our Way like to stay in the background, but I would be remiss not to mention her because she is her own driving force! — they just took the bull by the horns. They planned, executed and donated so much time and energy to this year’s Run. We are so grateful for both of you! ❤️
Kelly — the most organized and sweetly forceful gal you could ever meet! Kelly and Mark have also been friends of mine since the early 2000’s. She has a knack for getting people to listen and actually do things, all while doing it in the gentlest way. She looks after ALL of our volunteers and volunteers herself to help with our fundraisers outside of the Run. I call her my wedding planner! 😂 She’s like J.Lo — on Run Day, she organizes ALL of the people! And then there’s her hubby Mark, who has been with us for two years as well. Kelly says, “Mark, please do…” and we all hear, “Yes dear.” 😂 I honestly don’t know how this event would go without both of them. ❤️
Heather & Sheri — my ride or dies. ❤️ These two started walking when Mark and I started this with just about seven people on the trail in NG, and they helped us raise awareness and funds back then. The four of us had a vision two years ago of what we thought we could achieve, and I have to say, I couldn’t have imagined the success we had with this past Run.
They listen to me complain (yes, I do that sometimes 😂), they know all my Run secrets, and they fill in all the blanks when required. Heather will be up at 4 a.m. when I text, “Do you think we should do…?” and she replies right away with either, “Yeah, that’s a great idea,” or, “No, I don’t think we should.” 😂 They always tell me the truth. Sometimes we argue, but what are sisters for?! Love you both! ❤️
Amanda & Ian — this is a special relationship outside of our Run. They are the other half of mine and Mark’s family. We share dog sitting, childcare, and a long history of family birthdays and celebrations.
When Amanda came to me with her diagnosis, I was crushed. We made it through, and her clean bill of health has been such a blessing. ❤️ And then they jumped on board with my vision two years ago. Amanda made something pretty special out of her Hope Tent which is no small feat, and Ian has been behind the scenes this year doing graphics, scheduling and being our go-to guy for all things IT. We are so lucky to have both of you. ❤️
Jocelyn — I only met Jocelyn last year, and I have to say, she’s one of the best! She has ideas up the w***o for fundraising and has been such a huge help. She comes to all of our fundraising events, goes out to businesses for money, gets gift-in-kind donations, helps with our golf and trivia nights, and is just our all-around superstar! She jumps in wherever she’s needed, and we are so grateful for her. ❤️
Emily — Miss Emily! I met her this past year in exercise class, and you know when you meet someone and you just seem to click? Well, her, Sheri, Heather and I clicked! We met at 6 a.m. and Mandy or Kait would kick our butts! 😂 We asked if she would be interested in joining the committee, and of course she was all in!
She is also the chair for Home and School, so her ideas, presence and amazing love for volunteering really show. She is a go-getter and even had her hubby Matt helping us out along the way! We are so happy you said yes, Emily! ❤️
To each and every one of you — thank you. This Run is so much bigger than any one person. It takes people who are willing to show up, pitch in, laugh, work, problem-solve, sometimes put up with me 😂 and believe in what we are trying to do.
Two years ago, we had a vision. Looking at what we accomplished this year, I am honestly blown away.
I am so incredibly proud of this team and so grateful that I get to do this with all of you… let’s kick breast cancers ass one walk/run at a time!! ♥️🎀
And for the people reading this THANK YOU for showing up… we will see you on Oct 3, 2027 for another Trenton Park, Run for the Cure!! 💞
As a side note - we had to AI Michele into this photo because she worked at the Run right up until it was time to go on her vacation! THAT is the type of people we have on our committee!!
