For the past 13 years I have had the pleasure and joy of managing FRIENDS Peterborough, a humanitarian outreach in the heart of downtown Peterborough. Our mandate is to offer help, hope and a hand-up to everyone who comes into our office. FRIENDS Peterborough is a registered charitable organization with the Canada Revenue Agency.
Selwyn Outreach Centre launched this ministry in 2011 as a way of reaching out to our community in a humanitarian way but with Christian principles. FRIENDS Peterborough is run by volunteers but, as the "bus driver" of the organization, and the only full-time staff person, I depend on the free-will gifts and donations of interested individuals who believe in me and in my mission here at FRIENDS Peterborough.
Tuesday, December 3rd is GIVING TUESDAY across Canada and an excellent opportunity for you to lend your support to my ongoing ministry! With the current postal strike disrupting the usual Christmas-season donations that usually come my way, this is a way to encourage me and show your support using other means rather than the postal service. Dear Friend and Supporter:
Where has the summer gone? Fall is here and the leaves are falling quickly. They say, “the older you get, the quicker time flies”. It certainly seems that way!
A lot has happened since we last communicated with you. We got through a very successful and busy tax season with the Lord’s help and with the assistance of four able volunteers who helped with the intake process. Yesterday, Stephen Donaldson, our tax, expert told me that we had filed over 1,870 returns this tax season. What amazing opportunities we have had to share God’s love and concern with so many of our clients, as we work with them on their tax returns!
We are looking for another volunteer tax filer for the upcoming 2024 tax season to lessen Stephen’s load. If you know anyone who might be interested. please let me know. This position would begin in March 2025.
As you know, we trust the Lord to provide for Carol’s and my daily needs and, gratefully, He has never failed. Donations have been very slow coming in the last few months but…”I will trust and not be afraid.” Isaiah 12:2
