https://forms.gle/vXDPJMvojvMBwD5c6 The Miss Penticton Pageant started in 1948 when Miss Beverly Ann Young was crowned as the first Queen Val Vedette. Since those early days, the Miss Penticton Pageant has become a development program for young women, teaching confidence in public speaking, encouraging self-esteem, boosting community involvement and creating ambassadors for Penticton. The Miss Pen
ticton program has strong ties to the community and continues to be an exciting opportunity for young girls in Penticton. Through the duration of the candidacy, participants work together to improve their skills in areas of public speaking, interviewing, volunteerism, self esteem, community involvement, confidence, and friendship. Weekly meetings act as as preparation time for the judged events, which include:
- a debut speech, introducing their program sponsor (a community business or name)
- a talent night, where they share a skill they are passionate about
- a long speech, on a topic of their choosing
- two interviews with the panel of judges where they are able to talk about themselves and their strengths
- involvement in 2023 Peach Festival
- a final Pageant night, where there is an opportunity to get dressed up and awards are given out, including the titles of Miss Penticton 2023/2024 and Miss Penticton Princess 2023/2024, as well as Miss Congeniality and the Blossom Award (most improved!)
Please note that our Pageant night does not include points for beauty or a swimsuit competition as many young women's pageants do - this is an ambassadorship program. Miss Penticton and the Penticton Princess will be asked to represent the city for one year, and have the opportunity to travel to communities around British Columbia, meet ambassadors from other community programs, and mentor the incoming candidates for 2024. DM us with any additional questions you have about this esteemed program, and to get yourself or someone you know involved as a 2024 candidate.
