Angela Menchion brings over two decades of experience in public service and community
engagement to her role as Director with the Pasadena Heritage Society – NL.

As a Library Technician at the Pasadena Public Library, she manages daily operations,coordinates programming, and oversees cataloguing and interlibrary services. Angela’s background also includes service as a retired Captain in the Canadian Cadet Organization, where she held leadership roles in instruction, training, and logistics. Her combined experience in the library system and the cadet program has equipped her with strong planning skills, public speaking confidence, and a deep commitment to youth development and lifelong learning.

Currently living in Pasadena with husband Rodie, Angela enjoys reading, walking, and car shows.

Passionate about local history and heritage, Angela sees her involvement with the Heritage Society as a Board member since January 2023 as a meaningful way to connect with the stories and traditions that shape her community.

Born and raised in Pasadena, Karen has been active in the community from an early age. She has been involved in both the Guiding and Scouting movements and continued on to become a leader. Karen shows her community spirit by being involved in several community groups. She has served on the Strawberry Festival Committee, Winter Carnival Committee, Pasadena Library Board, Community Garden, and of course, the Pasadena Heritage Society.

Karen became involved with the Pasadena Heritage Society after it was noticed that she attended so many of the traditional skills workshops, she may as well join the society and help organize the events. Karen currently is the treasurer of the society.

Karen has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Memorial University which she used to move to South Korea to teach English for 3 years. Upon her return, she went back to school. She completed a Business Administration diploma in Accounting from College of the North Atlantic. Karen has spent the last 18 years in the accounting field. Her current role is Comptroller for Qalipu First Nation.

Karen has training in Project Management, Budgeting, Strategic Planning, and Proposal Writing. She also has certificates and extensive training in Health & Safety, ISO, and Policy. Karen is an avid reader and a lifelong learner. She is known to take in a class or 2 of Zumba. She enjoys photography, geocaching, and loves walking along the trails around the Town. These activities have shown her that there are hidden treasures everywhere and has her asking questions about history and heritage.

Thank you to everyone who participated and to our Events Committee - Angela, Teresa, and Erica for coordinating such a successful contest! From planning and researching the clues, to hiding the keys, to meeting the winners today, they all put in a lot of effort.
