Some 3018 staff and cadets among more than 1200 cadets at Friday's Graduation Parade at Blackdown Cadet Training Centre.

Congratulations to Officer Cadet (OCdt) Keenan Brideau, who was recently enrolled in the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) as an Infantry Officer! Prior to joining the CAF, OCdt Brideau was one of 3018's Troop Warrant Officers.

OCdt Brideau will attend the Royal Military College of Canada (RMC), where he will pursue a Bachelor's degree in History while beginning his career as an Infantry Officer through the Regular Officer Training Plan (ROTP).

Earlier this week, OCdt Brideau took his Oath of Enrolment, with Captain Burrows serving as his Special Enrolling Officer.

"Serve Canada Before Self" is one of the CAF's ethical principles and a foundational component of the CAF Ethos. During a brief conversation prior to taking his oath, OCdt Brideau shared that one of his motivations for pursuing a career in the CAF was a strong desire to serve Canada and help others.

Thank you, OCdt Brideau, for your dedicated service to 3018, its cadets, and our community. We wish you every success as you begin your post-secondary education and CAF career.

Congratulations to 3018's Second Lieutenant (2Lt) Emery on his promotion to the rank of Second Lieutenant and commissioning as an officer in the Canadian Armed Forces.

Promotion from Officer Cadet (OCdt) to Second Lieutenant is a significant milestone in an officer's professional development, recognizing the successful completion of initial officer training and the granting of the King's Commission.

As a junior officer, 2Lt Emery will continue his professional military education and occupation-specific training while undertaking increasing leadership and supervisory responsibilities.

2Lt Emery was promoted by Lieutenant-Colonel Joey Landry, Commanding Officer, Blackdown Cadet Training Centre, where he is currently tasked as a Platoon Commander on the survival courses.

Following his promotion, 2Lt Emery received his first salute from 3018's Master Warrant Officer (MWO) Carpini, who is working as a Staff Cadet at the Cadet Training Centre. The first salute is a longstanding military tradition that marks the transition from officer cadet to commissioned officer and recognizes the beginning of an officer's leadership journey.

Timelines:
Applications are due July 10th
Offers will be made by July 20th.
Acceptance of offers must be completed by July 28th.
Date of expedition is 25 Aug to 7 Sep 2026, inclusive of travel days.

Must be gold start qualified at minimum.
Additional pre-selection criteria is also required.

Congratulations to 3018’s (now former) Regimental Sergeant Major, Officer Cadet (OCdt) Mariem Gaye, on her enrolment in the Canadian Armed Forces as a Combat Engineer Officer!

OCdt Gaye will attend the Royal Military College of Canada (RMC), where she will pursue a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering while beginning her career as a Combat Engineer Officer through the Regular Officer Training Plan (ROTP).

OCdt Gaye took her oath of enrolment before a familiar face. Captain Burrows had the privilege of serving as the Special Enrolling Officer (and we can neither confirm nor deny that he may have included a “CHIMO” at the end—after a brief pause, of course).

ICYDK - The Regular Officer Training Plan (ROTP) offers Canadians the opportunity to earn both an undergraduate degree and an officer’s commission in the Canadian Armed Forces. Candidates accepted to one of Canada’s Military Colleges (CMC) or a civilian university are enrolled in the CAF as officer or naval cadets.

REMINDER: The Annual Ceremonial Review (ACR) parade for 3018 is happening this Sunday at the R. J. Kennedy Arena.

Cadets will practice in the morning.
Family and friends are welcome to come watch the parade. All guests should be seated by 1315 with the parade starting at 1330.

Come celebrate another year of amazing training at 3018 Orleans Army Cadets.
