We are proud to highlight the leadership of Bhagya Chander, President of the Indo‑Canadian Community Centre (ICCC), who was one of the five initial signatories helping to push E‑Petition 6893 toward gaining national recognition for May as Buddhist Heritage Month in Canada.

Bhagya Chander has been a dedicated supporter, participating in Indian community events alongside petition initiator Visita Sirin Leelaratna to raise awareness and foster unity across different communities.

With sponsorship from MP Jenna Sudds (Kanata), E‑Petition 6893 is now certified and in the presentation phase in Parliament. MPs from various parties have shown support, acknowledging the contributions of over 300,000 Buddhists in Canada to mental health, education, multiculturalism, and social well-being.
