Richard Loomes - For Imperial Outer Guard

Richard Loomes is a visionary leader and devoted Freemason whose decades of
service reflect an enduring commitment to community, leadership, and compassion. A Life Member of Shriners International, Richard serves on the Board of Governors
(Associate) for Shriners Hospital for Children – Canada, helping guide its mission of
providing world-class pediatric care. As Potentate of Tunis Shriners No. 17

9 (2022) and
Vice President of the Canadian Association of Shrine Temples (CAST), he championed
collaboration, membership growth, and renewed engagement across the fraternity. Within Freemasonry, Richard has served as District Deputy Grand Master of Ottawa
District 2 and held numerous leadership roles with The Builders’ Lodge No. 177. His
dedication to youth development is evident through his long-standing leadership with
DeMolay Canada, where he continues to mentor young men in leadership and service. Professionally, Richard is a senior management consultant with over 35 years of
international experience in business transformation and strategic planning. He brings
the same strategic vision, integrity, and heart for service to every endeavor he
undertakes.

Thank You for Your Confidence and Support

Andrée and I are profoundly honoured and humbled by the confidence the Nobility has placed in me through my election as Imperial Outer Guard. To be entrusted with the opportunity to serve our great fraternity is a responsibility I accept with gratitude, dedication, and a deep sense of purpose.

Throughout this journey, we have been encouraged by countless Nobles, Ladies, and friends whose support, friendship, and belief in us have been a source of strength. Your kindness and confidence have inspired us every step of the way, and we offer our heartfelt thanks to each of you.

Looking Ahead
As we look to the future, we recognize that challenges lie before us. Yet even greater are the opportunities that await us. Together, we can strengthen our fraternal bonds, preserve the values that unite us, and ensure that our fraternity and the life-changing mission of Shriners Children's remain vibrant and strong for generations to come.

A Shared Commitment to Service
We are also fortunate to have dedicated leaders who are willing to step forward in service to our fraternity. I ask you to join me in thanking Ill. Sir David Dodson and Noble Dave Kelm for offering themselves as candidates for this office. Their willingness to lead reflects the very best of what Shriners represent.

Andrée and I were blessed to spend meaningful time with Ill. Sir David Dodson and Lady Traci during our travels to the association meetings. We sincerely appreciated the opportunity to get to know them and have every confidence that they will continue to make significant contributions to our fraternity.

The Honor of Service
I look forward to serving on the Boards of Directors of Shriners International and Shriners Children's, and by extension, serving each of you. I pledge to approach this responsibility with integrity, humility, and an unwavering commitment to the principles and mission that define our organization.

Another great day meeting the delegates, Nobles and families, and in between, chatting with the Cabiri International brain trust.

This afternoon we hosted a hospitality suite which was another opportunity to meet and chat. Thanks to all those who were able to come by and experience the maple sugar candies from our friends, Lyle and Deb Cavanagh.

One of the common membership messages is that we need to be more visible in the public. Tunis Shriners were front and centre with the Air Force leading the parade as part of the 19th annual Ferrari Festival.

Think about how your Shrine Centre can find innovative ways to get engaged within your community!

Another great Hillbilly Chowdown put on by the Tunis Moonliters Clan No. 149 where we welcomed/made some new cuzins.

I know a bunch of cuzins are going to the 2026 International Hillbilly Convention in Florence, South Carolina. And the whole clan is excited that we are hosting the convention the next year - August 12th to 15th, 2027! We are hoping that many clans around the world will be coming to Cornwall, Ontario for a fun time! Contact Lyle, Raban of the Clan, or Ma Deb at [email protected] for more info.

A great example of Shrine Masons. I was in Kemptville last evening at the Installation of Officers for Mount Zion Lodge No. 28 and got a photo of just some of the engaged Shriners who are actively supporting their lodge. This includes two recent Shriners: one who was just installed into the Chair of King Solomon, and another from Rising Sun Lodge No. 85 who is completing his term as DDGM, St. Lawrence District. Thanks for helping to keep Freemasonry strong.

Congratulations to the Texas Shrine Association (TSA) for an excellent Ceremonial Session. Thanks go to Ill. Sirs Charles & Charlie, Nobles Christian & David and the whole TSA & Ben Hur team for the warm hospitality.

There was an excellent turnout with 380 Nobles and 603 total registered! The program was varied with numerous competitions (Motor Corp, Clown, LOH, Provost Corp, shotgun, Oriental Bands, golf, Co****le)

It was wonderful seeing so many of you again and making new friends. Coming from North Texas as you said, we appreciate the Southern hospitality.

The conversations around the state and future of our fraternity were also appreciated and important.

Lady Andrée and I look forward to seeing many of you in Tampa. Safe travels home.

This evening at our Capital Shrine Club meeting, we had the privilege of recognizing an incredible milestone of an extraordinary individual - Len Potechin's 100th birthday.

I was honoured to share a summary of Len's history, accomplishments, and lasting legacy. Reflecting on a century of service, friendship, integrity, and dedication, it is clear that his life exemplifies the very qualities embodied in the Ideal of a Freemason. He did the good act, not for himself but for the cause of good.

Len's commitment to family, community, Freemasonry, and Shrine has left an enduring impact on countless lives. His example reminds us that true greatness is measured not only by years lived, but by the positive influence we have on others throughout those years. He is an example for all of us to emulate.
