The Ottawa Maker's Shed helps to combat isolation and loneliness in our community. We do community minded projects as well as personal projects in our workshop.
We have received a modest grant from Men's Sheds Canada to add some tools to our shed.
Our members are mostly retired but still have energy and a desire to contribute to our community. We love to do big and challenging things. Since 2023 we have restored three 28 foot pontoon boats from the waterline up. Nobody else would touch them and yet our members knew that a local charity depended on them.
Because of our work this past season alone Catch a Smile was able to take almost 3,000 people in wheelchairs and with other challenges, for cruises on the Rideau Canal and Rideau River.
