The Live Net Zero Household Challenge focuses on four areas of everyday life that make the biggest difference toward sustainable living:
1) Our Homes: Energy efficiency and home retrofits. From sealing drafts to switching appliances, these changes can cut emissions and
costs. Grand prize of $10,000, runner-up prize of $500.
2) How We Get Around: Commuting, public transit, active transport and low-carbon travel. Replace short car trips, try transit, bike or walk more often. Grand prize of $5,000, runner-up prize of $500.
3) How We Celebrate & Play: Leisure, entertainment, holidays and traditions. Rethink what brings joy and connection with a lighter footprint. Grand prize of $5,000, runner-up prize of $500.
4) Our Daily Lives: Food and stuff – what we buy, repair and share, how we eat, and how much we waste. Small changes can have big ripple effects. Grand prize of $5,000, runner-up prize of $500. ! To enter the Household Challenge, post about your experience before the November 15 deadline. Post early for your chance to win $1,000 as “Post of the Month” in September or October…and secure a guaranteed spot on the shortlist for the Challenge you’ve entered! We’ll look out for your posts! Review the Tips for a Winning Entry on our website (www.LiveNetZero.org) to create a strong post, and include the following:

- Action(s) you are taking (past, present or planned)
- A bit about you including where you’re based (province and / or city)

- Submit your entry by posting directly on the Live Net Zero Canada page
- Entries can be submitted as a new post, a visitor (community) post, or as a comment on the Live Net Zero Canada page. To submit a visitor post, go to the “Mentions” tab when you’re on the Live Net Zero Canada page and create your post.

Check out the Live Net Zero Classroom Challenge, which helps educators engage their students in climate action. Students take on one or more real-world sustainability challenges, from reducing food waste to rethinking how they get to school; from upcycling everyday items to creating costumes for Halloween; from restoring nature to exploring plant-rich recipes. Each of the 21 challenges is hands-on and tailored to students at two levels (K-6 and 7-12). Educators across Canada can access bilingual resources aligned with curriculum goals in science, geography, social studies, civics and more. Before the November 15 deadline, classrooms submit their work to show the impact they’ve made, share their creativity, and celebrate their progress for a chance to win cash prizes.
