Visit: safewings.ca/support-us/volunteer/ Safe Wings Ottawa is a program of the Ottawa Field-Naturalists’ Club to reduce bird mortality from window collisions through rescue, research and education. Our mission is to learn more about the extent of the problem in Ottawa, to raise awareness about the causes of window strikes, and to encourage solutions for making glass visible to birds. COVID precautions: Volunteers must abide by all relevant local and provincial COVID-related restrictions and protocols while engaged in Safe Wings Ottawa activities. These may include but are not limited to rules regarding mask-wearing, physical distancing, gatherings, and close contacts. Please do not take any unnecessary risks. PLEASE NOTE: We are an entirely volunteer-run organization with no paid regular drivers or rescuers. When you call about a bird in need of help and you are willing to help us by containing and and transporting the bird if needed, it goes a long way in helping the birds receive the care they need.

📣🍂 Fall Migration is still under way and not slowing down.

Migration has been incredibly busy for our volunteers this year. Since August 29th our rehabilitator has admitted 164 window collisions. Last year, during the same one month period, it was 59.

The top 5 species we have received this migration season include: Tennessee Warbler, Nashville Warbler, Brown Creeper, Bay-breasted Warbler, and Red-breasted Nuthatch.

Below is a few of those birds admitted to us and their release day in Mud Lake where 11 birds were back in nature.
