A member of Garden River First Nation, a participant of the Indigenous Youth Internship Programme at VIDEA, and a part of Global Affairs Canada’s International Youth Internship Program, Domanique is sure to be a leader in the field in the future. We honour her voice.

On the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, we honour Survivors and the children who never returned home, their families and communities.

We reflect on the effects of residential schools that are still felt today. We also listen to Indigenous voices. We take this learning and follow with actions that advance reconciliation.

One of those voices is Domanique Camara, from Garden River First Nation.

Through VIDEA, Domanique is gaining experience in international development. As part of Global Affairs Canada’s International Youth Internship Program, 187 Indigenous youth can gain experience in international development.

“To me, being an Indigenous woman today means calling back the power that was taken from my ancestors and reclaiming it to uplift myself and others.

Results Canada was in New York last week!

We went to help hold Canada accountable at the UN General Assembly.

Road trip time 🚗 ! We were so thrilled to be in the GTA this past weekend to connect with our volunteer advocates and meet some new faces.

A big thanks to all who came to our Toronto event Saturday on why Canada must meet the moment and stop cuts to aid funding with our panel featuring Mark Brender from Partners In Health Canada, Jeanne from the The Stephen Lewis Foundation Grandmothers to Grandmothers campaign and Maria Guardado, a former Results Fellow. Next, we went over effective communication before putting it into practice by writing postcards to our Members of Parliament letting them know their constituents oppose Canada's aid cuts.

Thank you also to everyone who came out to our meet-ups in Pickering and Brampton to link up with fellow volunteers in their area. You are the engine behind everything we achieve and it was a such pleasure to be together.

We left feeling proud by our passionate and dedicated grassroots and re-energized for our next campaigns to ensure Canada steps up to build a healthier, more stable world for all 🌎

Another proud Canadian moment in New York as Secretary of State Randeep S. Sarai just announced that Canada will pledge $36 million to help respond to the deadly Ebola outbreak in the DRC at the United Nations High Level Meeting on Pandemic Prevention, Preparedness and Response.

We welcome this commitment and Sarai's statement that "the best time to prepare for the next pandemic is before it begins." Because outbreaks like Ebola must never be the new normal.

Today, world leaders are gathered at the United Nations in New York for a High-Level Meeting on Pandemic Prevention, Preparedness and Response to discuss how they will step up for global health security.

We'll be watching closely.

For Canada, this is an opportunity to show leadership and help ensure the world – and our country – are better prepared before the next crisis arrives.

When they were launched in 2015 by the United Nations, the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) seemed ambitious but achievable by 2030.

With only 4 years to go, however, it's not looking good.

Under-five mortality is now projected to rise for the first time this century, and there are 800 million+ people living in extreme poverty. If wealthier countries, including Canada, continue to cut aid as they have been, the impact will be devastating.

While the Canadian government is currently making decisions about Budget 2026, this provides a critical opportunity to email the Minister of Finance and your MP to remind them of Canada's commitment to make progress towards the SDGs and urge them to stop further cuts to international aid.
