Concerned about OSAP cuts? Here’s what you can actually do:
1. Contact Your MPP
Find them: https://www.ola.org/en/members/current
What to say:
• You’re a constituent
• Concerned about reduced grants / increased loans
• Explain your personal impact
• Ask their position
MPP offices track requests, so volume matters!

• Send letters quickly
• Join coordinated campaigns quickly
3. Communicate with families!
• Students alone are easier to ignore
• but when parents + families start contacting politicians:
→ it becomes a broader cost-of-living issue
→ political pressure increases
4. Share Your Story with Media
Media attention matters
Reach out to:
• CBC, TVO, CityNews, Global, local papers
Focus on:
• Financial impact
• Risk of dropping out
• How your future is affected
5. Increase Voter Turnout for upcoming elections
• voting in elections matters the most long term
• When youth voter turnout is low → politicians take issues pertaining to youth less seriously
What to do:
• Register to vote
• Actually show up
• Encourage friends to vote
• Talk about OSAP as an election issue
Politicians prioritize groups that vote consistently.
Lastly, policy changes don’t occur spontaneously, they occur when ignoring the issue becomes politically costly for governments. So continue advocating as much as possible and don’t give up!
