Congratulations! Ethan Woolf was a FireVenturer in the program, and is currently a Scouter in the FireVenturers program!
🚒 Firefighter Feature Friday 🚒
This week, we’re excited to introduce our newest firefighter, Ethan Woolf!
At just 21 years old, Ethan has recently joined our team and has been a firefighter for less than one week. Outside of the fire service, Ethan works as an Emergency Medical Responder (EMR), continuing his commitment to helping others.
When he’s not working, you’ll likely find him enjoying the outdoors through walking, hiking, or fishing, or spending quality time with his girlfriend, friends, family, and his golden retriever, Sully.
For Ethan, becoming a firefighter is the fulfillment of a lifelong dream.
"Getting to serve the community I live in is an honour and a privilege. Being a firefighter has been a lifelong dream of mine and I am thankful for the opportunity to join this exceptional team."
Ethan is originally from Ottawa and shared an important part of what inspired him to pursue the fire service:
"I knew from age 3 that I wanted to become a firefighter, however it wasn't until my mid-teens that I visually saw myself represented in the fire service. I vividly remember the first time I met a Black firefighter and at first I was surprised, then instantly filled with inspiration, joy, and pride. As a Volunteer Firefighter in Smiths Falls, I hope to be able to inspire other young people of colour in the community and be a clear symbol that there is an equal place for them in the fire service."
Having recently moved to Smiths Falls, Ethan says he’s already fallen in love with the community.
"The community has been welcoming, and the town is beautifully historic. I love it here so far!"
Please join us in welcoming Ethan to the department and wishing him success as he begins his firefighting journey! 👨🚒🔥
