FEEDBACK DUE TODAY! NCC SURVEY RE: "POETS' PATHWAY"
Greenspace Alliance, (a fellow member organization of the Federation of Community Associations) has been working with the Poets' Pathway group to revitalize and promote the Poets' Pathway, a 37 kilometer greenspace corridor, mostly on NCC land, that girdles Ottawa's urban area, from Britannia beach to Beechwood cemetery. One of the greenspaces along the way, the Southern Corridor, is under immediate pressure for development as part of the NCC's Land for Homes initiative. While the GA would prefer to see that corridor remain as is, it recognizes that it will almost certainly be developed in some way. The NCC has launched a survey that provides an opportunity to provide input on how it will be developed, in which it makes an explicit reference to the Poets' Pathway:
Currently the Poets' Pathway exists informally on the land, do you want to see Poets' Pathway become a formal part of the community’s green space?
This is an unprecedented and very welcome acknowledgement by the NCC, which may lead to the formal integration of the Poets' Pathway in NCC development plans, not only on this segment, but on others as well along the entire route.
