The Region of Durham strives to support the health and safety of everyone. In winter, this means helping people who are most at risk by giving them warm places to stay. For individuals who need help accessing a shelter or warming location, transportation support is available through the Durham Region Outreach Team.

For information about shelters and warming locations, visit durham.ca/WinterWarming.

🚨 Public Safety Alert – Increase in Overdoses in Oshawa 🚨

The Durham Regional Police Service is warning the community about a recent increase in suspected drug overdoses in Oshawa.

Emergency services have responded to a higher-than-usual number of overdose calls. This spike may be linked to a contaminated or unusually potent supply of illegal drugs circulating in the area.

We urge anyone who uses drugs — or who has loved ones who may be at risk — to take extra precautions:
• Carry naloxone and know how to use it
• Call 9-1-1 immediately if someone shows signs of an overdose (slow or no breathing, blue lips or nails, unconsciousness)

Black History Month is a time to recognize and honour the contributions, resilience, and history of Black communities. It is an opportunity to reflect on the past, acknowledge ongoing inequities, and recommit to learning, inclusion, and respect. We celebrate Black voices, leadership, and impact — not only this month, but throughout the year.
